FYI,
I think there might be a scam on Galazan/Connecticut Shotgun customers. I placed an order [online] a few days ago for some accessories from them and included my credit card number in the process.
I received an email today with the subject line of "Emergency [ConnecticutShotgun]" and the following text within:
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Hi, and happy new year !
Here is ConnecticutShotgun Support, you bought something with us, by the site.
We had a problem with our database, you need to re-send your information.
Attention now need your bank details in the site.
Go to direct at this website: http://casadosespiritos.net/ and make again your information.
We are working to improve our system, thank you for the understanding!
Sorry for incovenience,
Please do not reply this email!
Thank You.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The web address contained equally poor grammar and misspellings. I sent an email to Connecticut Shotguns advising them of the apparent scam and suggested they might want to verify their database (email) is secure.
I DO NOT believe my funds are in jeopardy, probably just my email address and the fact I placed an order.
I'll update if I get any additional info on the matter.

Sebascodegan, make sure that you scan your PC for viruses and spyware. Also check that you have the latest version of your browser or change to one with security features built in. I get crap like that all the time on eBay and PayPal scams.

But the good news is that that poor man who's father was poisoned in Nigeria is going to transfer 30 million dollar [US] into your account (if you'll just provide some information...) |

I heard back from Connecticut Shotgun / Galazan. They are aware of the problem and responded as follows"
Quote: |
We have been made aware that our website has been hacked. We are currently working with our web hosting company to correct the problem. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THE EMAIL YOU RECEIVED EARLIER. This is a copy of the email you probably received. If for some reason we do need more information from you, we will call you. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Sincerely, Connecticut Shotgun

Looks like they've got it under control [or soon to be]. |

Steve watch your account like a hawk!!!! I had ordered some parts from Galazan on 11/24/06, my order was not filled but, I had a call from Western Union asking if I would like to approve a funds tranfer to the United Kingdom for $537.00, I declined the opportunity. But I had to cancel that card. I called my bank cancelled the card and they were watching my accounts for any suspious activity. Sad to say a man can't purchase a part and not have his info ripped off. I also forwarded the Emergency (Connecticut Shotgun) notice to Galazan. The sad part is I told them this happened a month ago and they are just now responding to it??
Good Luck
Chet

I had the same experience. I also assumed the second email telling me to ignore the first was also fraud because they wrote "If for some reason we do need more information from you, we will call you."
I expected a call.
Thanks!

Has anyone had bogus charges placed on their credit card after dealing with Connecticut Shotgun? |

Could be a coincidence but I just got a call from American Express (card I used for the Galazan purchases) inquiring about what looked to them like suspicious purchases. (2) charges to Yahoo.inc for $25 and (2) charges to FAS for $14. All placed yesterday. I placed a hold on the account and asked for a new card.
Like Fluesy warned in an earlier entry; watch your account very closely if you place any orders through Galazan/CSMC.

Update:
Never received my order, so called Connecticut Shotgun (looked up number on Yahoo just to make sure I was dealing with the right folks). They did not have my order.
She (Robin) confirmed they had been "hacked" and they were only taking orders via phone at this time. They were nice enough to drop the shipping charges to offset my troubles though. |
