I'm leaving in the morning for my first turkey hunt. After patterning a few guns I'll be taking a Merkel 12 ga, basically a trap gun using 1 3/8 oz #6 lead. but for future hunts I'm wondering if I can use TSS shot in a 16ga Model 12 Win. The barrel was originally a full choke but was cut and had a Poly Coke added.

does anyone have experience with TSS shot and PolyChokes? I'd plan on using factory (if I can get it) with the choke set on cyl or IC. Possibly tighter if it can be done without hurting the barrel/choke.

AM - have seen postings in the past . Poly's and choke tubes , my Brileys for instance are OK out to mod . I really think the TSS would be better served @ IC .

I have experimented with some tss this year through a poly choked rem sportsman 48, and a IC choked Remington sportsman 58.

The words I got from people on here we’re the same for using steel shot. No more than mod choke on the poly choke. With loads from 1 1/8 oz- 1 9/16 the pattern was ok but the point of impact was way off.

The IC choked sportsman 58 did ok but I’m my opinion it could have been choked 1-2 sizes tighter even for tss. Again testing with 1 1/8oz-1 9/16 oz point of impact was better but still needed more choke for my likings.

Possibly it’s the heavy payloads causing the bad patterns.
