I can't see a thing about it that looks "new" to me. So, what is it a prototype of?
I'll venture a wild a$$ed guess that it may be a prototype out of the Miroku plant from when they moved production to Japan.
The seller has no reserve so he does not think the gun is all that special. and so far the bidders dont think it is anything special either based on the prices bid.
The most intriguing thing about it is that it's in Ogden, Utah.....

Here is the response I received from the seller in answer to my question......"What is this A5 a prototype of, possibly first Japanese manufacture? And is that wear on the receiver/barrel?"

Another one of those sellers, huh? I'd steer clear unless I could do some checking in person. |

Aek,
I'm not sure that code will tell me much but I'll look at my reference materials tonight and try to figure it out.
The numbers look machine struck. But the letters are hand struck, look how they are all out of register.

The serial number is in the right order for a japanese made gun. PT was made in 1986. Don't know what SAS means. Sweet sixteen made in Japan would have 221 after the PT.All the serial numbers in those years started with 01001. |
