Its not perfect by a long shot but I am happy with the results. I think I will have Glenrock rust blue this over the winter.

I don't think my work is quite up to your standards yet.

Good Job. I have one that's set up exactly like yours -- straight stock and sling swivels. Plain barrel. FN horn buttplate. It's an oldie. 2 9/16 inch chamber. Full choke. Works well. I need to make it look better. It needs a good rust re-blue, as also does my Rem Model 17 and one of my Win Model 12 20's, both with solid ribs. Could you direct me to the fellow whom you mentioned as your source for a rust blue job? Thanks.

In your first photos, I see a quite stout-looking steel bracket of some sort on the forend. Could you shed some light on that? It looks like it has a stud for mounting the whole gun on a swivel, or maybe a chain. I've never seen such a thing before. Was this a gun used in a guard tower of a prison or some other secured site?

Cheers!

I have no idea what the bracket was used for. When I first bought it I thought it was to repair the forearm but there the bottom side has a threaded insert on it. This one is also full choked and has some goofy horn pad that I restored. It might look like it in the pictures but this stock hasn't been cut either.

I have never used Glenrock blue but the pictures on their gallery look pretty good.

I'm not so sure about not perfect, but you did a fantastic job! Labor and prep is ~90% of a refinishing job. And your results speak for itself. You done well, very well. Outstanding! Very Happy

Glenrock has been around a long time and would be at the top of my list for a rust blue. The only other one that would be up there as well is Turnbull Restorations. But will cost more and take longer for pretty much the same results.
