My favorite is my 20 ga (ya I know, don’t say it) FAIR Iside, 28”. For whatever reason it’s just magical for me. I may soon order one in 16 ga with DT, long tang, and 26” barrels. I’ll likely wait til after the season to order it so I’m not hankering for it. Then again I may go to the Vintage Cup so that may put a halt on the order. |

Swampy16,
Hard to blame a guy for choosing a good 20 gauge double gun as his favorite, maybe when you get a really nice 16 double gun you will change your mind.
all the best,

Trouble maker! You crack me up once again
Seems kind of wrong to have a favorite gun isn't that like having a favorite child?
Any of several flavors of Ithaca 37, Sweet 16, NEA 500, kill grouse with them all. But the last couple of years do seem to use the Iside 16 more and more.
Double triggers in the winter with heavy gloves leaves a lot to be desired, but I shoot it extremely well for some reason. Trying to maintain self control so that I don't bid on that tarted up 16 ga. Iside that Double Vision has up for sale. That is a GREAT looking gun. Off to check his auction... |

A Hussey Imperial 16 ga, 28” tubes and with a 15 7/8” lop it weighs in at 5 lbs 13 oz. It is light enough for even this old man to carry all day in the grouse woods. Although recently “all day” has a different definition than it did 40 or 50 years ago.
Good Hunting,
Mike

Mike,
Beautiful stock on your old Hussy double gun, fantastic stuff! My all day in the Grouse woods has become shorter also, age catching up with me for sure.
all the best,

My favorite grouse woods entails a 4 mile walk around a swamp with 4 distinct coverts. It can wipe me out and makes the 3.5 hour drive home a bit long. |

ROMAC,
Sounds like you need to build a log cabin close to you're Grouse Coverts and forget the drive! I did a similar thing many years ago and am real glad I did, especially now that I am in my mid 70's. No more long drive home.
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

Mike,
At least you could have posted a picture of a fine RIO Turkey instead of that horned Texas beast!

I have a Trojan 16 that I love but really want to have it restocked. I just don’t think it’s worth it. The barrels are cut. If they weren’t I may do it. |

Swmpy16,
If the gun you like needs restocking you might consider doing it, even though the value of the gun does not warrant the investment, you only go around one time.
I know I have a 20 gauge L.C. Smith field grade that I really should restock, the gun is only going to be worth about $2, 200 and the stock will cost me almost that to get done with Walnut wood. Like your Parker I should have it done.
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave
