About 6 years ago I posted that my Stevens 94m with a 32" barrel was a keeper BUT in a moment of madness I let it go Embarassed
Being without a 16 gauge of any kind after owning quite a few over the years does not fit well so until I find a nice side by side I am buying a Baikal single barrel, I know it's not going to wow you guys but it is a 16 gauge and hopefully will replace the Stevens.

Anyone else care to admit to owning one?

Might not be the same gun, but, in about 1979 a friend bought a single shot Baikal that had been payment, in lieu of cash, to a local company (Honeywell?) that were then liquidated at the old Minneapolis outlet. Hammerless, underlever, I think they were sold in several different gauges, and one or two rifle calibers. The gun cost about $40-50, depending on what you wanted.
He bought a 12. Goes bang. Has not been babied, had a crack develop in the stock, that was repaired and is holding well.
I have a similar Italian single shot, a “Companion” , I’d say I prefer the Italian gun, seems to be finished much nicer, but, that doesn’t kill birds. Mine is a 12, also. My mom gave it to me for Christmas, when I was 14, so, not going anywhere.

Good luck with it. Let us know what double you end up with.

Best,
Ted

Thanks, there are a few German 16 gauge side by sides going for ridiculously low prices in the UK.
My preference has always been for hammer guns I once owned a nice English hammer 16 but sadly it got traded for new can't live without toy... Rolling Eyes

Take a look at the Tristar Bristol 16 ga SxS. It sells for $1100-1200. Made in Turkey. I have one of the straight stock case colored model in .410. Fit and finish very nice for this price point.

Years ago I picked up an A&N single shot hammer 16 at auction. Almost too light at 5lbs 2oz, it is a pleasure to carry when playing around.

If one has space for one in the arsenal for single shot British single shot 16’s regularly come on the market. Also Winchester M37, bough a bit heavy, are good guns too.

I hope one day to use it teaching my grandson to shoot.

I would post a picture but both services I once used are gone.

Try this one:

https://imgbb.com/

After the usual suspects melted down, I started posting photos with the above service. I never created an account, just started uploading and posting. No troubles as of yet.

Best,
Ted

While not 16ga., here are a few of my single-shots. Not pictured are a Bonehill single-shot and a Stevens 220 single-shot both 16s. I have shot the Bonehill at dove, but poorly. Two guns shot the limit of woodcock. I used my Beretta 412 with spreader loads. It is choked tighter than Dick’s hatband.
There are two Baikal MP18s depicted, both in 20 ga. In the group of three, in addition to the Baikal, there are a .410 and 12 ga., both dedicated to turkey hunting and have been modified with red dot sights and turkey chokes to accommodate TSS handloads. The .410 is 3.25 lbs. and the 12 ga, 4.25 lbs. Uncle Dan Fan (Mark Larson) did the artwork on the stocks. They are made by Yildiz. The Baikal are as tough as anvils. Lastly, Pato, a Chilean, is depicted with his clapped-out, but still lethal Baikal single-shot. It’s the Indian, not the arrow. Gil

How do you like your Bristol? I'm thinking about one in 28ga. They look to be really nice guns.

I like to use my Iver Johnson Special Trap occasionally to take a few doves. It's a gun not seen often, sometimes referred to as the "poor man's trap gun". It is basically a I J Champion with upgrades for trap shooting. Most had upgraded wood, a trap style forend, and a 32" ventilated rib barrel. Cool old gun. Mine has the standard forend.
