I've got a Browning Lightning Feather 16 gauge that has been used for years as a chukar gun. It looks much like a chukar gun. Scratched up. A couple of significant impacts to that glossy finish. Looks like a chip in the windshield from a rock on the highway. A couple of dings to the rib, such that it needs a dent pulled out. I can remember to fall down the rocks plainly, and it wasn't a prettry sight.

Not using the gun much and wondered about the prospect of "restoration," for lack of a better word. Not to return it to its modest original condition, but pretty it up to turn if over to the next generation. I would like for my son to see that I bought interesting things, and things that will last for a long time if you take care of them. This is a nice gun and I've always liked it.

The wood is plain. Very plain. Does it make sense to strip and re-finish? Or better to just look to restock?

Who might a guy turn to? Midwest gun works? I've got a good local gunsmith. I've also worked with a guy in New England who specializes in double guns and is extra good.

Just wondering what you guys thought. Maybe a simply crazy idea.
