Cross-post with LPG:
I’m looking at building some test loads for powders I can get without much trouble, and wanted to check with the group for prior work before I got too far down that path. The powders I’m considering are:
Hodgdon HS-6
Winchester WSF
Accurate #5
Vhitavuori 330
Thanks in advance! |

There is data for N320, N340, N350 and 3N37.
There is data here but they do not list chamber pressure or velocity. They do not list N330.
http://www.gualandi.it/docs/tabpolv_2013_eng.pdf
I have used the data for N320 and it produced some nice loads. They chrono'd 1,216 FPS to 1,235 FPS with 1 oz. of shot, depending on what primer I used. I don't know what the pressures were. |

FN, that looks like a good load. Do you know the source?

JockC,
If that was a 5 shot string, with an EV of 13 FPS, the SD is going to be 3 - 5 FPS. If it was a 10 shot string it would be lower than that.
On the pressure side with an EV of 700 PSI, the EV is the important number.
When EV's are low, as in this case, the SD number falls into place. It's almost inconsequential. I did say almost. |

That is a load I sent in to Tom. I will look for the original paperwork when I get a minute. I have shot probably 2K rounds of that load with no issues. It is my go to dove load for my older guns.

For u guys that's well healed, I see alliant will be releasing a load of powders sometime around May 5th. Only thing is a 30% increase. For u people not in the know. My source tells me alliant does not make powders. The just order from other manufacture and when the recieve their full orders they release it with their markup. |

Alliant makes powders at their Radford, VA, plant. Some rifle powders are outsourced, but AFAIK all their shotgun powders are made in house. |

Dan Lee I'm checking out the source that told me. He purchases several thousand dollars from alliant. This person has a mole inside. Swears alliant absolutely makes no powders at all. So I guess I'll wait and see what happens around 5th. |
