It's been a couple of years since anyone here on 16ga has come to hunt pheasants with me.
I have most of my spots filled each year by guys who come to hunt with me every year. This is my 9th season offering hunters lodging at my house.
I have Downrange DR16 wads. I will give a bag to anyone who comes hunting with me for the available openings I have for this 2023 season. These are spots which were booked but canceled last minute due to the guy's health issues or work schedule.

I also have plenty of 16ga #6 shot hunting shells (2 3/4" and 2 1/2"). I will give a box to anyone who would rather have shells to hunt with instead of wads.

All reports for the pheasant population this years are excellent. This will be a great season to experience South Dakota pheasant hunting. Don't miss out!
Send me a message with your phone number if interested.

Sad to say one of my long time regular friends has been battling cancer the past year. He thought he would try to make one more trip to hunt roosters but today I was informed he has entered hospice.
Phil was a super guy who LOVES his Setter, Clancy. We will miss him at the house and in the field.
Phil passed away yesterday.

Hey guys I know it’s last minute but if you can make it happen you should try and hunt with us, we have a great time at the house with a lot of hunting opportunities around the area for the dogs and yourself. We need a few more 16 gauge shooters at the house. I’ll have Bobby post a few pictures of my pup and the good times we’ve had. |

Here are some of Dave's photos. He has stayed with me to hunt several times over the years.
Dave is a grouse hunter from UP Michigan. After his first time hunting pheasants (and getting his limit of three roosters each day) he told me "I don't like this. It's to hard on my legs walking through tall grass." I just scratched my head and shrugged. I didn't expect to hear from him again.
The next year he calls me up wanting to return. He's been out hunting almost every year since. He won't say he loves pheasant hunting (He does say he likes my cooking) but every time he brings the pheasants home I know he really loves pheasant hunting
He has killed Prairie chickens & Sharptails along with the pheasants while here.
He's coming solo again. We'd both like to have some 16ga shooters here.
I have two more spots October 25-29 so don't miss out being at the pheasant camp with Dave!

I tried a few years ago but was told my wife wasn't welcome, it was a guys only place, so sorry not interested. Not mad just bewildered.
Good luck,
James |

James-
We discussed this matter previously by phone.
Apparently I am more considerate of your wife's feelings than you are. I would want my wife to have a positive experience if on a trip with me hunting or elsewhere.
I told you I had no problem with wives/girlfriends/daughters/families coming if you put together your own exclusive group of people or couples you are friends with or familiar with to take the whole time slot for your private group.
My house has two shared bathrooms to start with. I would not want some dude walking in on my wife while in the shower or toilet. Or some guy walking naked from the bathroom to the bedroom or whatever. Probably not intentionally, but things like this happen.
One guy wrote me from here saying I had a good rule because he would not want his wife to be the only female around guys who might be burping, farting or scratching their nats all week.
I have to think of all scenarios to have a good experience for anyone who stays at my place.
The last thing is a woman might find a guy she likes better than you then you go home alone. I'm telling you, one never knows what might happen
We've all heard the stories of couples going on safari in Africa where the woman and guide end up messing around. Ernest Hemingway wrote about it in "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber". Francis took a bullet in the head over it but he did die happy.
I make my rules for good reasons. Just like my Rule #1-- No dogs allowed in the house.
I'm having to bring a new couch with me this time because guys disrespected my rule and their dogs tore up my leather reclining couch so it's ruined. That disrespect cost ME over $2000. I set up a very nice place for guys to stay and try to keep it that way.
Thanks for your input anyways. |

Ouch. Man are you angry and insecure. I will let your post speak for itself.
All the best,
James |

No, neither angry nor insecure
Some is truth. Some is humor.
You brought it up after all these years after I explained the reasons. I'm not really sure why you didn't let it pass instead of making the derogatory comment this late.
No matter anyways |

Yesterday was the opener.
The group of three guys killed 9 roosters.
They saw many giving them good places to be hunting this week.
I'm looking forward to getting there!
Don't be the guy wishing you had come out for good hunting.
