Things change quickly on the Canadian border in October, eh? It was 84 degrees Fahrenheit here on Monday and this was yesterday. Today the high will only be in the low 50s. We'll still have a few nice days yet but...the leaves are mostly down now and the balmy days of autumn are mostly behind us now.
And...of course, everybody who lives up here knows all-to-well what happens next here....

Looks like grouse season, to me.
Best,

A 16 just works so-well up here. A pleasure to carry and damned effective when used properly. This was the last bird of the day yesterday. In order to make it fit, I had to unload my game vest first and re-order things.

I've had good years up here before, but nothing like this one...

That'd make a nice card for Grousemas. |

I've been using several guns up here this year and was asked about that earlier here by IM. Here's a selection of those guns:

Dickinson 28

Lang Hammer 12
There's also a road-bird gun in the cab of the pick-up, an older 870 Express. Ammo is cheap/plentiful and it's highly effective on the "bonus birds" as my father-in-law used to call them. When in Rome... |

Made it home last night after another long (1,150-mile) ride.

My wife's inherited doublewide up there (I think this makes us trailer-trash?). All buttoned-up for the long sleep of winter now.
