Here are a couple pics of my "new" Tobin. The pictures are crap because the "camera" is crap, but it's what I have to work with for now. Any factual information about Tobin Arms Manufacturing Company, Canada would be appreciated.

I think it looks like a very nice gun. The first thing I would shoot with it would be the camera! Laughing

Matt

The camera came from a yard sale and belongs to my younger son. If/when we do upgrade to something else, I will give him the pleasure of shooting it with the Tobin. But for now it is the only digital we have. I think it will take better pics in good light and with a clean lens. I had to "doctor" these pics for brightness and it didn't do the image quality any favors. I will take some more pics outdoors but it will have to be on the weekend as it is dark when I leave for work and dark when I return.

Don't you just love these Michigan winters. Mad
Bad thing is, hasn't been cold enough to make ice, so no ice fishing.
By the way, that looks like a nice gun. Enjoy it.

Don't ya just love a guy who spends his $$$ on scatterguns instead of mega-pixel digital cameras?Laughing

Here are 2 tips that might help get better pics from sonny's digicam:

1. Open the program, and see if you can increase the picture size. It will look something like 640x480.

2. Try placing the gun on a solid color tablecloth, bedsheet, etc. Your tabletop and carpet are way too "busy" and require too many pixels which detracts from the features of the gun.

1. Hell of a piece of wood
2. Worst gun pix I've ever seen.
3. Go to house where garage sale was and get your money back Laughing !

Second beautiful piece of wood I have seen on a Tobin this week.

Where are you and Ted getting the wood - did yall hijack a shipment of Purdeys?

Nice.

Thanks!

Mike

According to the Double Gun Journal Index... Tobin Arms Co.

Vol. 1 Issue 1
Vol. 2 Issue 3
Vol. 3 Issue 3
Vol. 5 Issue 1

Hope this helps.

Y'all know at the clubs I shoot at when someone shows up with wood like on these Tobins we accuse them of using a magic marker on the stock!

Nice looking gun - shoot the camera....

Thanks for the kind remarks on the gun. It is a joy to shoot, hold, and look at.

One member has counciled me not to shoot anything but expensive low pressure 2-1/2 inch loads in it. The printing on the box of my Federal shells says 2-3/4 inch, 1 oz., 2-1/2 dram eq., and 1165 fps, which is definitely a light load fore modern ammo. I appreciate the advice of the member and I would like to hear more opinions on the matter. Do you think it is safe to shoot the light Federal loads in my 100-year-old Tobin? Would you shoot them?

Now, about the camera, I got the message. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Before you do anything, check the chamber lengths. It's not a bad idea to have any 100 year old gun checked out before use.

Unfortunately, shot weight and drams equiv have absolutely no relationship to peak pressure of a given load. You need relatively low pressure loads for this gun.
