Does anybody here currently actively hunt with a "Hardware Store" or a "Department Store" branded 16 ga pump?
Ted Williams, Ranger, JC Higgins, Glenfield, Western Field or similar brands
If so, please share what model and what you hunt with it?
Thanks |

It isn't a 16 ga, however, I have a Browning Superposed that is noted as Made for Abercrombie & Fitch. Does that qualify as a hardware store? |

I've got a Sears Ranger 102.25 and a JC Higgins model 20 both in 16 gauge. Every so often I'll pull them out and take them on a rabbit or pheasant hunt. They are sturdy and reliable. |

I hunt at times with a western field mod 30 pump modified ck 16ga. Even shoot skeet with it also. Surprisingly I do fairly well. I did ad a rib to it. Hamer bill. |

Thanks for the replies, I was hoping to hear that some hunters still use these guns for their intended purpose.
This post was triggered by my intense desire to purchase the Westernfield Model 60 that CoryJ posted for sale on this site a few months ago.

But I have 3 Remington pumps and one Ithaca 37 in the overflowing safe, and I hunt with all of them each year. Purchasing a fifth would screw up the rotation.
If someone has a humpback 16 pump for sale, I might be tempted. |

I picked up a Western Field 16 for a song and it has some of the nicest wood of any of the guns I own. It cleaned up nicely. |

Fourtown:
I hunted with a Ward's Westernfield (Browning) Model 30 in 20 gauge for several years.

It was easily the lightest, slimmest, and fastest little pump I've ever run across.

Well....to be fair, that Model 17 and that Remington M31L were pretty decent too. |
