| < 16ga. Ammunition & Reloading ~ Loads with Winchester Upland CF hulls and Green Dot?? |

| I was rummaging through my hoard of 16 gauge hulls and came upon these once fired 16 gauge compression formed Upland hulls. I can find no data for one ounce loads and Green Dot for these hulls. Can anyone assist? Thanks for any information.... |

| Per the 1995 Hercules Reloader's Guide: 16 ga 2 3/4" Win CF hull, 2.5 DE, 1 oz shot, vel 1165fps, W209 primer, Win WAA16 or Activ G28 wad, 17.5 gr Green Dot, 10,300 psi. |

That data is for the G28 wad only, not the WAA16 wad |

FWIW, with all the testing that has been done with the new lots of Green Dot, the 1995 is probably ancient history, which is why it has been deleted from the newer data.
I am not saying that you shouldn't use that data, just giving you some information. |

| From Kenneth Couger's "Shotshell Reloading": WW CF Hull, 1 oz shot,16.5 gr Green Dot Rem R16 wad, 1165fps 9700 psi; 17.0 gr Green Dot Rem R16 wad, 1220 fps, 10,300 psi. Rem R16 wads are occasionally found at gun shows & some even have been sold over this site. The primer in both loads was Win 209. |

Also Blue dot and 20/28. Lately I've been reducing powder charges 10% from published loads, checking with a chrono, then adjusting if needed. |

Have you found changes in the powders that produce higher/lower pressures/velocities? |

Higher velocities, which would inevitably yield higher pressures. A newer lot of blue dot yielded muzzle velocities 100+ fps over published data. I'm reducing powder charges to get the velocity I want.
Ultimately, I plan to use Hodgdon powders in all my reloads - I haven't had this issue with them. |

You can add Steel powder to the list.
I am not sure what is going on at Alliant, whether this is a quality assurance issue or more likely a way of increasing their bottom line, but their data is suspect for sure. |
