I had also asked about high gloss wood, since my older 12 and 20 have very nice wood and I wanted them all to match. No go on the high gloss from the custom shop. Sad

I guess I'll keep poking around until I find a local dealer to get me one. At least I have time to save the pennies Cool

Hello everyone. New guy here. Always been curious about the 16ga, and as a big Browning fan, figured I'd jump at the chance to get the new BPS 16ga. hunter. My dealer pre-ordered 2 (1 26" and 1 28") so I put a deposit on the 26" gun. He also gave me a firm price of $539.99, and thats Canadian! That would be under $500 in US$. Can't beat that! Now I just sit and wait til delivery. I know, it's not a Parker, but a 16ga. newbie has to start somewhere. I have seen the 16ga. light!

Say Oldhunter I see you're from Remer I am up in Rapids and when I ordered my 16ga 525 Glens Army Navy Shot me what I thought Was a pretty good price ($1750) I don't know who your dealing with but I saw 525's at Reeds for quite a bit more.

I do not want to mention dealers names, but not beng an o/u guy I would deal with the store in Rapids, but if you want to deal, come down to Remer and talk to Dave at the little store on the corner of Hwy 6 amd 200. You might save yourself a few dollars. Just tell Dave that George sent you.

I have traded emails with Browning. Here's the latest...

The BPS 16 gauge is a SHOT Show special these guns are only available to order til the end of February. Only thru Browning dealers direct or they will have to get them from a wholesaler.

I then called my dealer and it seems I'm on go with him. I did have to explain how to go about getting one as I have been told, "It's not in the catalog." Rolling Eyes

I've been watching this thread for a long time. It seems to be a popular subject. I noticed someone was concerned about the weight that was listed on the web site and then clarified. I think the correct weight was stated at a little under seven pounds. There is an old formula used to calculate the proper weight of a gun for a certain shot weight. It goes something like this, 96 x shot weight divided by 16 oz. The 96 is a constant and I don't know where it comes from. I always thought this formula calculated the optimal weight of a gun a little light. For instance if one once of shot was used, 96 x 1 divided by 16 comes out to a 6 pound gun. If 1 1/8 oz is used in the formula, the optimal gun would weigh 6 3/4 lbs. Both these shot weights are popular weights for the 16 gauge. I would think a 6 3/4 lb gun would be optimal for both these shot charges. What I would be more interested in is the ballance of the gun. I have not seen one one yet so I don't know. I guess I'll have to wait until this Fall to find out. I'll probably get one if the gun ballances well, regardless of the weight.

I have got mine on order. I went through a full line Browning dealer and he was glad to order for me. I gave him the stock number and within 10 minutes he called me back and it was ordered. Out of curiousity today I went by a store and looked at a BPS upland in 20 gauge with the 22" barrel. It had really nice wood for a field gun and the weight was perfect. It balanced well so I know the 16 on that 20 frame will be a delight. I think Browning has once again done us 16 gauge guys right. The store with the 20 gauge is high on their guns. They wanted $488.00 for it. I got a better deal on the 16 elsewhere. I was quoted 460.00 Can't wait to get it. I will have to get used to a pump again. It has been a while but for a great 16 I don't mind.

I ordered my Upland 26" yesterday for $489. My dealer is not a full line Browning dealer. He told me that he dropped being one when Browning required him to order 30 safes a year. Didn't matter. He pulled up the part\order number or SKU or whatever it was on Equismith's post. He told me as long as the number comes up, he can get it. But here's the kicker; first ordered, first delivered. So I probably won't be seeing it until October.

There goes that 'instant gratification' thing shot to hell. But I'm happy to be among the few, the proud 16ga BPS owners. It'll fit quite nicely along with my 10ga and 12 ga BPS's. I have no interest in any smaller gauge. I hope it brings me as much success in the game fields as my stolen Ithaca 37 Featherlight, albeit with 2" less barrel length.

Mine has been ordered since 16 January 2007. I am hoping to have it by late August. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I'm ordering tonight from Gander Mountain -- they quoted me $480 delivered. Sportsman's Warehouse was $479.99 plus $20 S&H.

I can't believe that browning can make a scaled 16 bore pump with walnut and blued steel for around 500.00 bucks. It has to be the bargain of the shotgun world. In Canada we see Remington Express 16 bores trading at around 400.00. No slam on remington but the BPS is by far the better gun. Go figure.
