Anyone knw of a choke tube wrench for 16 ga that is easier to use than the Browning supplied one? It would be nice to have one like Briley makes for the other gages.

I thought Briley did make one. I saw one by somebody in Bass Pro Shop--$30 if memory serves.

Looks like the 'Speed Wrench' only comes in 12, 20, and 28 http://www.briley.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=145
I used the 20g wrench for my M-37 Ithaca and the 'fingers' did expand enough to grip a 16g tube but the teeth won't fit to tighten it.
Carlson's wrench is only in 12 and 20

OK, guess I suffered a brain cramp (that's a medical term, doc). Could have sworn I saw one somewhere . . . .

I have both a Briley (12 ga) and a Carlson (20 ga)

The Briley works by engaging the slots in the choke, Carlson works by expanding a rubber bushing inside the choke.

If there is not a 16ga commercially available, and there is some interest, perhaps a contact to both Briley and Carlson would be in order. Any others hav an interest?

Briley used to make a nice T wrench in 16 though I've just scoured their website and didn't find anything.

Colonial Arms www.colonialarms.com makes a universal wrench which fits all gauges. It may or may not be what you want but take a look anyway.

Good luck with your search.

Several years ago I purchased a Carlson 12 ga. wrench and ground the rubber down so it would work in my 16 ga. Took about 10 minutes of grind and try.

I took my Carlson 20ga wrench and tightened it into a 16 ga choke. The only one I tried was full, but it seems to work, so maybe using it will be OK. Thinning a 12 gage Carlson seems like a good idea as well

I did purchase one from Briley, and it is a huge improvement over the one Browning supplied with the gun. Also, it is not the speed wrench style, but is a stubby chromed T-wrench style. Very nice. If you don't see it on their website you could always call and ask.

I took a flat metal wrench from a 12g and filed it down to fit my 16's. It works great and took 5 minutes.

I've got one from browning that covers 10-12-16&20gauge. Don't remember when or how I got it. It came with one of my Browning guns.

Colonial Arms has a tool that is basically a flat wheel (which will fit any gauge) fastened to a magnetic screwdriver bit. They call it their designated driver.

It seems to me that you could hold it parallel to the bore and use it as a screwdriver, or perpendicular to the bore and use it as a wrench. And for you fast paced competition type guys, insert the bit into a cordless drill/driver. Zoom zoom and choke tube is out.

I called Briley today, as Grousen suggested. They have a 16 ga "tee" type wrench. $15 plus $4 shipping. So I went ahead and ordered.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
