Hmmmm... three people with almost no experience with 16's, talking about 16's and the usual tropes about they are mostly around for nostalgia, etc. Sigh.

Typical corporate blah blah. Pretty girl, decent-enough guys but...

I was carrying one today (& killed a grouse with it), that's what keeps it "alive". BTW...my shells come from RST, not Remington.

Corp execs who consider the primary reason a gauge is used is for nostalgia shows they alive very little experience with that attitude toward their other products answers why Remington has been sold to other companies.

It is too bad that the "experts" don't see the 16 as we do. A perfect size for a capable shooter and a joy.to carry and shoot.

It explains a lot, that a Remington podcast would have two "experts" on a discussion about the 16 gauge when they own one 16 gauge gun between them.

I was poking around the ammo shelves over the weekend on my way to go bird hunting, and 16 gauge shells are now $19-28 per box. The RGL's were cheapest at $19. Heavy bismuth was $65, and Prairie Storm 16's in #6 were $34. What???

I have a lifetime supply of factory 16 gauge loads for hunting, most were acquired many years ago and purchased in full case quantities, and I reload too - but ammo prices are more than likely going to be the death of low volume sellers like the 16, 28, and 410.

Yikes, hard to listen to that podcast. Very unfortunate they didn't prepare with a little research which these days can easily be done via searching the internet. About the only thing of interest was they plan on changing to purple hulls.

The problem is not the experts. The problem is, there’s not enough of “we.”

I'm amazed at the lack of competency or should I say lack of knowledge these "experts" exhibit in not only our beloved 16 gauge but in general shotgun knowledge! I learned a lot of what they were discussing as a wee lad by reading books and magazines.
My first 16 was a Browning A-5 with the safety in the front of the trigger guard and after a drought of 30 years I refound the gauge and now it's my primary hunting gauge and has been for 20 years.

I wouldn't listen to anyone that doesn't have real experience with the guns or the gauge.

I got about 1 minute into that podcast and turned it off.

Very Happy Very Happy New AA and REM one piece hulls and wads to fit would go a long way to advance a great gauge into the future. The new guns will folow.

Gentlemen,

After viewing the video and seeing the inexperience Remington has with 16 gauge guns, it is a wonder Remington is making any 16 gauge shells at all. Not one of the speakers mentioned that Grouse hunters purchased the vast majority of 16 gauge double guns from the early 1800's clear thru the 1900's a real shame with the lack of education on the greatest Grouse guns ever made.

all the best,

Pine Creek/Dave

L.C. Smith #5, 16 Gauge Grouse gun, one of the finest Guns ever made.

Pre 1913 Special made 16 Gauge Silver Breech L.C. Smith Grouse gun, another of the best American made 16 gauge guns, still operates perfectly today.
