Gentlemen,
It's just December 2nd and its snowing in Pa. The snow is very heavy and beautiful hanging in the Pine & Hemlock trees, however the Grouse are still very spooky and although the dogs can get near them to point on our private property, no human can get with in 50 yards of the birds. Only about 4" of snow so the Grouse can not get under the snow for protection yet. Deer season is now in, so no more Grouse hunting until Deer season is over. Grouse season comes back in on the 15 of December, I hope the snow does not melt and we have Great Grouse hunting in December. The Deer hunters are very happy with the light snow to hunt in. Pa is a winter wonder land right now, can't wait till Deer season ends and I can Grouse hunt again
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

Dave:
First snow of any real significance here too today, just shovelled 5-inches of it off of our own driveway.
Nice to be home for this, after nearly 3-months of adventures elsewhere (no elk this year). Homemade chicken & corn chowder warming-up in the kitchen for dinner.
Counting my blessings here tonight. No more adventures for this year, cleaning guns and putting away gear. In January I'll (we'll) be making plans for 2026. |

Lloyd3,
I usually enjoy the 1st snow in the Grouse woods with my dog, looks like it will hang around for a while, pretty cold here right now.
Enjoy the soup!
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

upstateduckman,
When the Grouse come busting out of the snow, it is some of the greatest gunning God presents to man. Definitely my favorite time to shoot Grouse!
all the best,

Y'all are making me long for the more northerly latitudes.
Chicken and corn chowder you say, Lloyd? Share a recipe? It sounds delicious. |

Gentlemen,
Got about 3 more inches of snow last night, everything beautiful again after the warm up. My Wife and I are meeting my best friend and his wife for dinner this evening at a fine restraint, will be a real nice new years celebration for the 4 of us.
Happy new year everybody!
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

WJ,
We had a great time, however the dinner got snowed out, we stayed at home and had a beautiful New Years eve. Both my best friend and his wife have problems seeing at night, especially when it is snowing, we both stayed home and had a very quite evening.
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave
