So, it's been a rough recent couple of years for me, reaching Senior status while still working.
Two aunts I was close with passed.
Mom & Dad both passed.
I didn't think my heart could break again, but it did.
My best friend, confidant and hunting dog, Roxy, a yellow lab with a big, gentile heart developed cancer and had to be put down in May. I couldn't tell you why, but it hit me harder than everything else did.
The kids all live in different states, and I don't go out much, so the house got very quiet. Clock ticking on the wall quiet.
I couldn't stand it any longer, so I splurged and bought a red lab puppy from a good blood line.
Probably 10 years ago I threw away all of my puppy training stuff, because I thought Roxy would last as long as my desire to hunt did.
But that is not the case. So I started all over with a 7-week-old red lab female I'm calling Parker.
Wish me luck. I'd forgotten how much fun it is working with a puppy again.
But I don't notice the wall clock ticking anymore!

Perfect remedy, enjoy!
Glad to know you still have the desire to hunt. |

That pup is super lucky to have someone that appreciates it, and vice-versa! Wishing you years and years of good times together.

Barnyard Drake,
I know just how you are thinking, I went thru the exact same state a few years back.
I will not go into all the different deaths with you except the loss of my prize Ryman Setter puppy from cancer. Maggie got me thru my open heart surger, always there laying against my side, she was a natural in the Grouse & Woodcock woods and her death hit me harder than I really want to admit, Maggie was the 1st Ryman Setter pup I ever lost, the breeder replaced her for me, with another beautiful puppy. I had just had my major foot operation and could not take care of her propperly. I gifted Daisy Mae to my good friend and hunting partner Ken Graft and she is one great Grouse & Woodcock 2 year old pup now.
It is great that you got another puppy, life has started all over for you once again!
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

Daisy Mae in her new home with Ken and Kim Graph, I do miss her badly. However she is in a great home and spends a lot of time in the Grouse woods with Ken and Kim loves her dearly, as seen in the picture.
