How about pheasants? If the Fiocchi GP came in 4s, I'd use them instead of the 5s.
Larger pellets, hitting hard and not as many in the meat. |

Regarding the PMC quality. Cabelas used to sell these same loads in 6 shot at the Owatonna, MN store, so naturally I bought a few boxes over the course of a few visits because they were priced reasonably at $5.99/box.
They just sat in my ammo stash. Then one day a couple years ago my buddy Jason and I decided to do some 16 gauge patterning and we brought all of our field loads along to see how they looked down range.
Long story short, these PMC loads gave both our our guns the densest, most even patterns of anything we tried that day, and we had all of the 1 1/8 oz loads from the major manufacturers including Fiocchi. I mean these patterns were "crazy dense." Jason noticed it first and he showed me an eye-popping dense pattern at 30 yards shot from his very open choked Western Arms (Nitro). We then repeated the patterns with our other 16 gauge guns. FWIW, they use the B&P wad. (not to be confused with the "BP" SG16).
I wish I could tell you that these loads work terrific on game birds, but for no good reasons they still sit in my closet. I just have too much good factory ammo built up and I just never use the PMC's that I have.
I tried to order a case of these 4's for myself just because that's a killer price, but I can't get a secure connection from my computer. That's probably good, because I'd have more ammo that would just sit. |

well, if mine end up sittin around in my ammo closet, you can buy one of my cases, the fact that they throw tight patterns in open guns is exciting....hope the 4's work as well as your 6's did, thanks for letting me know....

Before I bought a case I did a search on another forum. A guy was impressed with the dense patterns so he took one a part and found PMC was using the TC-16 trap wad. I looked on PMC's weg page and they listed the fps. at 1245 pretty good for a 1 1/8 oz load. |

You may have found one of my old write-ups on this load. I did give this PMC load a review on another board (or two). Then again, maybe someone else had the same findings, too.
The "BP" TC16 (Trap Commander) is the same wad as the "B&P" (Baschieri & Pellagri) wad I referred to above, which is often confused with the Gualandi wad that "BP" (Balistics Products) markets as the SG16 (Sporting 16).
Clear as mud, right! |

Yes, the "BP" stands for Ballistics Products and they sell the Baschieri & Pellagri (B&P) wad and call it the Trap Commander or "TC16." I see they also call it the "Field Commander" on the wad list in their latest catalog. (as if this isn't all confusing enough!)
BP (Ballistics Products) also sells the Gualandi wad and call that one the "Sporting 16" or "SG16" for short.
You can also buy the Baschieri & Pellagri (B&P) wad from Precision Reloading, and you can buy the Gualandi wads (for a better price than Ballistic Products) at Graf's & Sons.
I hope that helps! |

Somebody's gotta be losing $$$ on this sale. 3 flats shipped across the whole country only cost $7.50 shipping and handling. That's gotta be better than 50 pounds.
Thanks Mattcc, for the tip! |
