Benelli is the exact opposite of my 16ga philosophy . . . Benelli is for the cool kids. The "look how much my gun costs" crowd. Bigger (3.5" 12ga), faster (inertia driven), better crowd. Black synthetic or camo synthetic. yay. Benelli is Johnnie come lately.

The 16ga on the other hand is classy, and timeless - like old double guns and model 12s with ribs and checkering.

I never did like benelli and I'm glad they don't like us (16ga) either!

Agree with you about the Benelli SBE and that whole genre of guns. However, a Browning Gold, a Beretta, or even a Benelli Montefeltro in traditional blueing with walnut would be a really classy, pretty gun.

I definitely wasn't thinking black synthetic and all that for a 16 auto.

Benelli has classy guns as well. Benelli caters to the upland hunter as well as the duck hunter.

Really why would they make a 16 gauge? I own a Benelli Ultra-light that weighs 6 pounds in 12 bore. Hey I love the 16 just as much as anyone else on this board but I also have my feet solidly grounded into realilty.

After all of us bought a 16 gauge Benelli then what?

To be honest I think a 28 gauge Sporting Benelli with 30" barrels would sell better than a 16 gauge.

I think the original poster was barking up the wrong tree with benelli. I think if we were to get something unique out of the beretta family of companies than Franchi might be the chance. They seem to be more of a niche filler than beretta or benelli.

Besides who wouldn't like to see the AL48 with a 16ga frame????
