Fellow members,
We'll never achieve a count of 'how many 16s are there out there?'... we might be able to get a count of 'how many shooters use them'. No none knows for sure. it is a likely a surprising number. Add in 'how many shooters want one' or are thinking about it, plus the recent attention 16s have received, and the number will certainly show steady growth.
Over 1,000 shooters now use our GunTalk forum as a source of inspiration and information. We've made great strides in making ourselves noticed and as our numbers grow our clout in the marketplace will follow. Spread the word and recruit your friends.
As of February 1, 2007, we have 808 members in The 16ga. Society. for one reason or another I have I have addresses on 770 that enable me to publish a list by US state.

Thanks for the head count. Now if all the indiana, Illinois, Wisconsion, and Ohio members would join us for the 1st 16 Gauge Society Skeet Event at the National Classic Shotgun Festival May 18-20th in chicago, we'll have a great turnout! |

I must say I'm proud my home state is a close second on the list, given the common misperception that what is often called "Kalifornia" is generally known as an anti-hunting and anti-gun state.
Moreover, I used to think the dearth of 16's at the local gun shops and gun shows was a regional thing -- you know, that 16's were always more popular in the east and the south, therefore there were fewer used 16's to pop up on the open market here. Now I know it's because the 16's that do become available are probably snatched up before I can find 'em!
Seriously, though, California is truly a shotgunner's paradise. We have great waterfowl hunting and every type of upland game known to America I can think of besides woodcock, plus thousands of acres of public lands on which to shoot and a great state wildlife refuge system. In any case, it should probably come as no surprise we have a bunch of 16'rs -- aren't we known as having the wierdest state in the Union? |

I was surprised to see the results, figured they're be more involvement from the more eastern regions.
So when is the Texas 16 Ga target shoot?
Based on this report, we Texans seem to have more participants on this forum, and possibly more 16 ga shooters, but where are they living?
A 16 ga event scheduled in Dallas is not the same as one scheduled in El Paso or Brownsville or Houston.
A central location would possibly be vicinity San Angelo / Abilene.
Do we have anyone in that area?
Anyone interested?
and don't even suggest Austin. Austin is NOT in Texas, it is a liberal suburb of Kalifornia and besides the legisalature is in session and i don't want to go anywhere near there with more than 10 cents or even a credit card in my pocket while that's going on.

18 in MA? Geez, I didn't think there were that many 16 ga. guns in the state, not counting mine of course. You guys must have counted me 15 times by mistake. |
