Orvis is close to Mid Hudson.
I would love an excuse to go there as well.
They were like $75+ per 100 targets, but that is the reason I did not go.
Mid Hudon is 2 hr. from me. If others are east of me we could carpool.
It is a beautiful drive, (no highways). I did is several times when a friend was in the Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY and a couple to mid hudson.
Mid Hudson has an automated sporting clays course approx 16 stations, and a 5-stand, and a FITSAC like thing. |

I drove into Orvis Sandanona and took a look around there. They charge $75.00 for a round of sporting clays. The place "stunk" of old money. Belgian and Italian over/unders. They won't let you bird hunt there unless you're a member. They do have an Orvis store there also.
Someone recommended TMT preserve to me, about ten minutes north of Sandanona. I've never hunted or shot clays there, but they offer both. |

Orvis, rhymes with oriface. I believe their motto is, "If you've been screwed over elsewhere, try us." |

http://www.tmthuntingpreserve.com/index.html
Looks nice enough. Does anyone live close enough to any of these places to do some recon? |

Count me in for sure. I live in Wallkill NY and all those places are fine with me, it doesnt really matter where to me. I am not a good shooter, couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with both barrels, but would like to get together and have some fun.

I took a tour of TMT this past weekend, on my way home from elsewhere. Seemed like a nice place though small compared to the place I usually go. The guy collects antique trucks, and uses them in his operation. Nice touch.
Sandanona has a first class operation under its belt also. And there are a few high end gunshops in the area to browse through. The Orvis store, Safari Outfitters, and British Sporting Arms. |

I shoot at all of them on a rotating basis.
They are all nice, all different. Orvis is the most expensive about 75-80 a pop but has a large facility.
Tom is a real nice guy at tmt and knows how to set a course. Always deceptive.
mid hudson is also nice, has voice activated traps. It is the farthest.
If you do orvis, tmt, there are two gun stores in the area
bsa and safari outfitters that you may want to check out. |

I'd be interested, I would be traveling up from Philadelphia, but it sounds like a great time. Please keep me posted |

I know this has slipped down some - I guess I'm not the only one who is busy these days. There's a double edged sword...
If someone has a club affiliation and would like to host an event - even if it's just shooting clay targets and BS in the clubhouse afterwards - I think it would be better to have something somewhere even with a small crowd than to have nothing at all.
If it's in NY or ME or wherever, plan it and, those that can, will come. |
