Chaps work if you keep going forward. If you have to back out, you is in big trouble. |

If I was wearing pink lederhosen, who would know the difference anyhow? Pardon my caboose. Kinda gives a whole nuther meaning to the word "chaps" don't it.
I still remember the picture of the three Texas honeys strolling down the dirt road shotguns on shoulders wearing Stetsons, boots, and nothing else. Now thats my kind of bird hunting party. |

Kinda like a 16 gauge toting Leather Daddy. Better be careful how and when you yell "Pull" in that parade!!. |

I wear Filson single tins. They are fine for walking, and MOST of the West Texas nasties do not get throught them. They are a PITA to put on because they have no zippers - gotta take your boots off. So I am installing 13" brass zippers at the bottom.
Lots of guys like the Wick's they are tough as H*ll and have full zippers. They are fine on horseback too.
Bush pants are not how to get it done. |

Nope. Most chaps for hunting are 'shotguns' they completely enclose the leg. The chaps you are thinking of are like batwings and the little 3'4 length suckers that are not useful for walking in the brush.
In Texas you only need to walk a few yards from the 4 wheeler to the point, flush, shoot, walk back to the 4 wheeler... |

Mike,
Mark would often have us abandon the Mule to chase the blues on foot. Those forays revealed the inadequacies of brush pants. |

I second the Filson single tins. Pretty bullet proof when you're chasing Gambels quail around here. However, they can be hot when the temp gets above 60.

Okay, but what's protecting the caboose? I've been jabbed in places a lot more sensitive than the back of my legs. But in all seriousness, If someone would come out with a fully encased set of brush pants with a protected seat as well, I for one would be grateful. They would go a long way in protecting my little pink butt when I'm trying to fish a bird out of the 12 foot diameter rasberry bush it dove into as it died. Like I said, going in is only half the battle. |

Churkarman is sporting his Filson chaps (on right), Dave is using my very old Browning’s that should last another 6 to 7 years, unlike a pair of Filson's that need to be added to the will.
Chuckarman’s recommendation for the installation of a HEAVY DUTY brash zipper is a must for the Filson chaps and pretty standard around these parts.
When it is real cold I wear Filson coveralls double tin. The Filson double tin (for cold weather) take a lot of effort to get around but at the end of the day you'll feel all the better for it.
