Hi all,
I'm new here and probably should have done some more reading before posting, but I'm rather excited about the 16 thats on its way to me, so I thought I would say hello.
I've always shot 12s. And I tend to be a SXS type of guy. (Just wish I had the budget for them).
Recently I discovered DeHaan Shotguns and rather like them. (Please, lets not get into the whole "Turkish gun" thing). In January I bought myself a DeHaan SXS 20 guage. Sweet little gun and it has served me well for about 1000 rounds.
Anyway, decided to get my Nephew a shotgun for his 13th birthday. Decided on a 20 guage DeHaan O/U. Called to order, but they were out of stock of the model I wanted and wouldn't have any till after his birthday.
But they had a 16 guage O/U with what the Gal I've dealt with there (and I accept her word as gospel) described a "gorgeous" wood. Couldn't resist.
So now my very first 16 and also my very first O/U is on its way to my FFL via UPS.
Hope you 16 guage officianados will be kind enough to offer advice to a 16 guage newbie.
Regards....2few
P.S. Fear not! I bought a 20 guage Fausti Stefano for my Nephew for his Birthday. |

Welcome on and pull up a search button...
There's a lot of topics already covered here and if you can't find what you need, ask.
If you reload check out the low pressure group and if you don't where are you buying shells cause we need more sources in New England?
Don't let the classic American boys scare you, don't let 16GG type your ear off, once you figure out who Larry Brown is it makes sense, if you don't live west of the Mizzippy you'll want to, if you don't hunt outside New England you'll want to, if you appreciate very well made guns despite their country of origin you'll love it here, if it has a funky looking hump on the receiver Jeff will be here soon, if it's politics, sports or anything non-16ga gun related expect some feathers to get ruffled, smoothed over and the thread deleted in a few days, if you don't hunt with a dog you'll want to...
there's more but I won't take all the fun out of it for you |

sprocket! Thank you.
I'm looking forward to my time here. As to wishing I lived west of the Mizzippi. Well, I wish I did, but I tried it once and wasn't too good at the "making a living" part in Montana, So I am back east and will settle for visiting my buddy Bill in Bozeman MT every couple of years. As for hunting outside New England, well, I'm getting there. Have a dove hunt planned for TX in September. Glad you all tolerate foreign made guns. By the way, are there really any American made guns any more? As for sports and politics, I'll stay away from politics, but GO CHIEFS! And yes, I'm dreading the cost of ammo. The FFL holder who handles my transfers also runs the SC club I shoot at and is getting me a case of 16. Hate to think what he's going to ding me for that. Probably near as much as the gun!
Again, Thanks for the welcome.
Regards....2few |

rayb....Thank you for the welcome. I lived and hunted in and around Virginia for 22 years and loved dove hunts. But now that I'm here in CT where they consider doves "songbirds" and you can't hunt 'em, I decided I needed to get to TX and get some REAL dove hunting!
Thanks again....2few |

fin2feather....Thanks for the welcome. And thanks for the attaboy on the Chiefs! Just wish we could clone Dawson, Lanier, Bell, Buchanan, Taylor, Podolack and a couple of others. They would teach our current guys how to win!

2few,
If you have that 16 by Sunday bring it. I will have ammo, if it isn't pouring rain!

Hey Jim,
Good to see you here. Didn't know you were a 16 guy. Alas, my new 16 does not arrive until Tuesday. Hope I'll see you Sunday. Earlier this week I got offered a small interior painting job. Small job. GOOD $$$. Only hitch, I had to start Saturday and complete it by the end of he weekend. I've hired a helper in the hopes we cn knoeck it out on Saturday so I can shoot Sunday. But if w dont finish i Saturday, I'll have to go in Sunday morning so I keep my pomise to the customer. Got to keep them happy. The ecterir needs painting too!
Hope to see you Sunday.

2fewdaysafield.Welcome to one of the best forums on the internet. I am a retired painter. Had a painting and remodeling business. I still do work for some of my old customers. Now I just buy more 16 gauges and wish the hunting season would start tomorow. |

Hi oldhunter! Thanks for the welcome! I'm really happy I found 16ga.com! Some of the other shooting sites out there can get a little rough! Nice folks here.
Hopefully soon, I too will be a retired painter! My dream is to buy a small mobile home and travel the country shooting birds and clays.

britgun, Hi!
Thanks for saying hello from Bozeman! You don't happen to know Bill B in Bozeman do you? He's an old buddy of mine. Photographer and shooter "extraordinaire"! He's a little annoyed at me now, I've made some mistakes in life. But I still count him among my very few real friends.
My 16 is due to arrive on Tuesday, I'll post pics.
