Hello, I just joined this forum yesterday after a couple of people recommended it to me. I just bought my first sixteen gauge yesterday and I am really looking forward to getting it. I'm sure I will have plenty of reloading questions and look forward to talking with everyone here.

Welcome abroad SH! Pull up a chair and enjoy yourself. That Cogswell & Harrison is certainly a fine introduction to the 16ga world.

Welcome Snipe Hunter. Ask all the questions you want to. These guys have more information and answers to your questions than a 25 lb bag of #10 shot got pellets. And, they are just great!!! |

Thanks again everyone for the welcome. Regarding the gun, I hope to have it within a week. I can abswer a few of your specific questions now. It is a boxlock, barrels 27 1/2", chokes I/C & Mod, two triggers, modest scroll engraving. As soon as I get it I will post some pictures. However, it's just a field gun and not a show piece by any stretch of the imagination. When it comes time to feed it I will have plenty of questions.

I do have a modest website with a few pictures from the last couple of seasons. I think a you can get to it by clicking on the "www" icon at the bottom of my posts.

Welcome! Nice website and pix; I assume you're one of the three gents in the photo, maybe the one on the right since there appears to be a "solo" shot of the same fellow later on?

Hey Snipe-man!
Welcome in! There are some really nice pics on your webpage...do you shoot pictures (as well as birds!) professionally?
Cheers!

welcome aboard, you and your Coggy both! you must be pretty quick to nab those darting weaving infuriating little birds! I always get a couple when out after huns and pheasants, but shoot substantially more rounds than that to get those couple....

Fin, you have picked me out. My wife took the picture down at the bottom of the page. She hunted with me February 3. It was her first time out in the marsh in nearly twenty years. Back then she was still trying to catch me and would go just about anywhere to impress me. She told me she thinks she wants to hunt next year. I told her she could use the gun that I used most often the last couple of years and that is how I ended up with the new one. It couldn't have worked out any better.
Thank you, OSL. I'm not a photographer. I use a simple point and shoot digital that is several years old and is a fairly low megapixel model. I just put it on auto and fire.
Britgun, in the last thirty years I have gotten fairly used to their game. I still have some make me look like I have never seen one before but as often as not I get the last laugh.
Now for the good new, my gun came today. It fits very well and I have no doubt it will be potent medicine on snipe. It might even work for ruffs, if we had them in Florida.
