Is it possible to take a dog on a gunning trip like this? I'd love to go out of country, but it'd be pointless to go without my dog.
thanks,

Fall of 2005 I flew three dogs in two crates to Canada to go birdhunting. Amarillo to Dallas, Dallas to Calagary. It was very stressful as they were combination house pets and hunting dogs and my wife would be very upset if anything happened to them. I was also by myself.
I went to Argentina dove hunting last summer. Amarillo to Dallas, Dallas to Santiago, Chile, Santiago to Cordoba. The process of just getting the guns in and out and through customs and back on the plane and through the next customs and back on the plane and through the next customs and back on the plane was tiring and stressful and frustrating. I couldn't imagine adding my dogs on top of that. Even if it is legal I don't think it is practical. Now if I had britgun's money I woudn't mind taking my dogs down to Argentina non-stop on a LearJet.
Best,
Mike |

I was wondering the same thing this weekend.
Was on a friends ranch in northern Mexico, and we flushed 4 covey of bobs and one of Gambels, just wandering around his place. He deer hunts, but says no one hunts the "pajaritos", little birds.
Don't think I'd fly dogs to S. America, but hell, I drive 10 hrs to Post, TX a couple of times a year, what's a few more hours to Tamaulipas, MX.
I'm checking into documentation requirements. I'll post results if interested. |

Yeah, I'd be interested. I spose ulitimately it'd be cheaper/less risky to go and blow a big wad of money at a game farm, but obviously not the same type of experience.
Too bad a guy can't get into the wild ducks locally like the old days.
