I don't think anything has changed here has it? Usually, these special order production runs are delivered in sub lots. This always confuses folks who think the sub lots are a new and different order. On top of this, Browning reserves the right to order extra guns made for the general dealerships it does business with besides the Bill Hicks "approved dealer" network. Browning offers these guns as "shot show specials." That way, Hicks does not have a total monopoly on the line, and other Browning dealers aren't left out of the loop.

Any wholesaler or dealer can order a custom run of existing models with minor finishing variations. We've seen this with the 425-525 line of guns for some time now. It is in Browning's and Miroku's interest to remain a bit flexible, and they do.

I had seen the posting about Bill Hicks, but just came across the Bill Hanus updated site, and thought I'd share it here in case anyone was interested.

Thanks for the update. I think Hanus is simply drumming up new business with old news. I'm not real fond of the firm. I think you are OK though Very Happy

He is definitely drumming up some business:

One customer told me that he's switched from 12 gauge to the superior patterning 16 gauge (with reduced loads!) and been winning club events with his 32" model.

Actually, I think it carries like a 16 and shoots like a 16... Wink Laughing

You can taylor loads either way IMHO.

I just don't think here is a superiority about 16 gauge patterns or believe me, they would be on every shelf in every gun store. Smile

IMHO, for upland game, they're the perfect mix. You can get a little more shot in the pattern than a 20 without having to lug around a 12.

I like shooting a 20 too, don't get me wrong, but the 16 seems to be the right waepon for this arena.

This is the type of hype Hanus is always flinging. He claims his guns are better. They are the same 16ga. Citori or whatever other brand of gun anyone else has to sell. He does not make them or rework them. They are all stock models. He gives the buyer a tube of "special grease" with every gun. If you trade with this firm, you can bet what the grease is for.

I wonder if I have to use this grease all over or just on my trigger finger...........

And by the way talking about lugging a 12 around, that may be true, but has anyone picked up a browning 525 feater lately........browning claims 6lb 4 oz with 28" barrels.

I haven't really looked at the 525s. They always struck me as a "Sporting" clays gun and not a field gun. They are nice looking pieces though. I'll have to keep an eye out the next time I'm at GM.
