Back in May, posted that I finally got a extra barrel for my M37, 26" IC.
Well, now the not so good news, it was headspaed as excessive and now the smith is attempting to face the barrel the shoulder and threads to seat tighter and then correct the headspace.
Hopefully be ready by mid-month. Cost about $130 so far. |

Just curious, what kind of problems were you having that led to the headspace diagnosis?

Fellow poster here, indicated that pre-855,00 barrel needed to be set for headspace by the factory or barrel damage could /would occur.
Local smith indicated that complete seating would not allow full turn to set barrel and by raising barrel to next thread excessive headspace was present.
In january the barrel with be corrected by facing the face and shoulder back one thread and cutting the extractor grooves and forcing cone deeper. about $120. |
