We got back today from picking up the puppy in Byron NY. The breeder is Alan Burkhart and this is my second dog from him. Solid liver GSP with a small amount of white on her chest. A dark color is harder in the grouse woods but I love the color. This makes three GSP's in the house now. They are getting along well and the kids are in heaven! All is good.

Nothing better than a new pup in the spring------looks like you are also having decent weather---here in So. Il it is in the mid 20's with light flurries |

You are a rich man, Clutch! A housefull of cute babies of both human and canine type!
Enjoy these days, friend. They will go by sooner than you think. Time to enjoy every day God sends and no sweating the small stuff at home!

Congrats on the addition. Looks like not only you are going to have your hands full, that older GSP is not going to get any rest any time soon. |

Congrats on the puppy. I too am currently engaged in the battle to keep floors clean and get enough sleep at night. These very cold temperatures in Northern Illinois are keeping the pup indoors so I'm having trouble wearing her out. |

A man can't have too many GSP's.
Sounds like a good excuse for another 16ga (at least 1 per shorthair). |

Does your breeder have a web site? I am in the market for a GSP. I am on a local breeders wait list. They just had a litter 5 weeks ago and there were not enough pups for everybody on the list. They are having another litter from a different set of parents later this year is their plan. |

The breeder is Alan Burkhart, Burkhart Kennels, he is a full time trainer for NAVHDA dogs. He does not have a web site. He only has one litter a year and they are gone well before whelping time. There are several very good NAVHDA breeders for GSP's. I like NAVHDA because you can see on paper how well the parents hunt by their test scores. You don't have to rely on someone telling you "they hunt great". If you are serious about a GSP send me a PM and I can give you some names of other very good breeders.

Lucky's got the right idea. The math works better when you put labs into the mix though. Being as labs are the best bird finding dogs ever(sprocket excluded) you have to buy 2.6 16's per pup, as the guns tend to get wore out, with all the birds being found , and dispatched. |
