I've been watching the on line auctions for an english stocked Browning A5. This one looks pretty clean and the short 65mm chamber doesn't bother me. But I was surprised at the price it went for. Or is that a reasonable price since most have the POW stock? |

Gun is clean but shows plenty of use which is OK. I can't see the straight stock increasing the value that much, plain bbl. too. 2 months ago I picked up a S16 Browning 28" VR for $700 -- I was lucky I guess
dbh is there hunting in the Marshall Islands---brt the fishing is good |

Was a 25" barrel available? Doesn't mention choking in the ad.
But then again, I'm still choking on what it sold for. |

I too was watching that gun, and going to bid on it. Until I seen it heading north of what I was willing to pay. I think most are going to go for that kind of money. You'll have to find one locally to pay in the $600.00 range.
At least I now know dbh1956 is looking for the same thing as I. |

I'd be happy to find just a straight stock like that for a 12ga. that I have. My father-in-law had the stock cut for some reason and a piece of wood add on to it. Killed the stock. Wood doesn't even match really well as far as color, fit is great though.
Can't find an original Browning stock anywhere. Lots of repros though. |

The buyer posted over on Shotgunworld.com in the Browning Forum. Its a 1910 gun, 4 digit serial number. He's Happy!
No hunting out here in the Pacific. Fishing is pretty good! Moving home to Alabama this summer, so I'll get back into shooting and hunting.[/img] |

TJC: Check e-bay. A-5 Browning stocks are pretty common. Straight stocks less so.

TJC,
I may be able to help you with a straight stock. They are hard to come by....
All,
That gun went for a high price as two bidders really wanted it. I paid a lot less for my straight stocked 16, but I was the only bidder and bought for the minimum. The market is changing as short 16 shells are becoming more available the interest in these early A5 16's is rising.

If you should fall out of Love, she's welcome to come stay in Michigan. |

Yentzen will be putting that gun in among a fine collection of A5's. I suspect that you guys who coveted it will have to negotiate with his widow cause after he shoots it he aint going to be letting that gun out of his sight,
Personally I'm a bottom feeder but I also believe that one of these days we'll look back at the price Yentzen paid and call it a bargain. They don't make these anymore......

I was watching that A-5, as well. I already have 3 A-5 16's, but that one has some collector/historical significance, being from such early production. I'm actually surprised that it did not get to $1500! I don't have anything to bid with right now, or I might have given you a run for it........ |

Yentzen,
What is the choke on that 65 cm (25 1/2") barrel?
Mine is identical to yours but with a 27 1/2" barrel and full choke. I picked up a second barrel, 25 1/2" with a factory CYL choke off eBay for $100.
I find I rarely use the short open barrel, I like the long one so much. It absolutely purees clay targets.
Now we need to find you the correct (factory) sling swivel for the stock as I notice yours is missing.

I dont know what choke the gun has. The past owner said there were fractional marks on the barrel but did not tell me what they were. I will let you know when it arrives. Yes it is missing the rear sling swivel. Dang And I saw one not to long ago. |
