Wondering if any of you guys use these and have any pro or con commentary on them. Also, where to get one?

Thanks,
NR

I like to use them on splinters. Provides a more sure grip PLUS it forces me to keep my left hand way out there where it belongs.

The ones I have are by Galco, but CSM sells them too.

I haven't tried one but I've wanted to. the old Dunn's Supply Co. used to sell them. I think someone took them over.

Let me know how you make out.

Check the Brownells website also, I'm sure I've seen them in there. To each his own,but I tried one once and wasn't impressed. Then again I'm not fond of beaver tails either. Rather use a tight leather glove, it doesn't add diameter and can't come loose. We all like something different.

I have bought them on ebay in the past. Galco makes the better ones. I like a glove much better as they slide around and are a PITA. I do think that a 20 ga. one fits better on a 16 ga. and a 16 ga. better on a 12 ga. Still don't like em.

Can't shoot my SXS with the splinter forearm in the summer here without one. I like them and the one I got fits nice and snug. As stated above, they're not hard to find.

I agreee with Cpt. Billy. Go with the glove. Your left hand placement impacts your swing. Get it way our, and you will have a slow swing.
Try the GripsWell gloves! They have one designed with a double layer for your left hand.

I prefer the Galco pad. I also use their removable recoil pad as well. Classic Upland Supply has the best price that I found on the net. Seem like good people too.

Some people don't like the change in sight picture but I have never noticed. Also, if you don't put your hand completely on it and end up holding the gun with a finger or two next to it, it can kick the tar out of your fingers. At least that was the complaint of a budy of mine.

Good Luck,

Ralph.

Stupid question... Do you take the guard off when you're not using the gun?

I use them on the splinter forends and have no problems. The Black ones I purchased from Jeff's Outfitters. I store the shotguns without hand guards installed. I only need them in target shooting. In the field I use gloves just to keep my sticky hands off the bluing.
Best,
Ron

I use one in hot weather target shooting. Have never used it hunting but it could come in handy dove hunting on a hot day. It is hard to read the writing but I believe it says "Pendleton Royal" on it and it is black leather. Sounds English to me. It came with my used AyA 4/53 Bill Hanus Birdgun. I see Bill sells them on his website but they are pricey. Shocked The only time it is on the gun is when I am using it.

PrussianGunGuy-
I think it would be prudent to remove the guard when storing the shotgun.
I was always fearful of some long term reaction between the barrel and leather.

I agree with Hal. Ever see what can happen to a knife left in a sheath for a long period of time?

I've got 3 of them ,one in each gauge and they are essential in summer over here.I have been known to slip one on the 470.
you can get them from any English gunmaker .But I do have a preference for William Powell www.william-powell.co.uk

good shooting

I have heard (but have no personal experience with them) that they can cause bluing wear. I always wear a glove on my leading hand--mostly just unlined leather, but if the barrels are going to get hot, then I agree with Hal on the Gripswell gloves.
