Wow! That Longshot load shows much less pressure fluctuation than the previous test. What do you attribute that to Dave? That looks like a fantastic damascus gun load.
Makes me wish I had a trimmer and roll crimping tool. |

Dave,
only 4 shots, I know, but impressive uniformity for such a combination of slow powder and low pressure.
Just curious....since you're trimming, and otherwise customizing...why do you choose a rollcrimp over a pie crimp? Any reason other than good old nostalgia?

Most all of my 16 gauge guns have 2-9/16" chambers. But the main reason I trimed the hull, was so I could roll crimp it. I have decided to load all my paper loads with roll crimps. It's easier, looks nicer, and it's cool. Might take a little longer, but oh well. If I need 300 loads for sporting clays, I'll shoot plastic. |

I shot this spreader load this weekend. I was shooting a full choked Parker 16 gauge. Any fast target within 30yds was hit nicely. I haven't patterned this load, but it impressed me on the clays course.
Still waiting for the other rersults.
Also, These roll crimped paper hulls will reload a 2nd. time no problem.
Cheddite Paper Hull 2-9/16"
Win. 209 primer
21 grains IMR's SR-7625
SG-16 wad, 1 oz. lead, Polywad Spreader insert, Roll Crimp.
1143 fps @ 7400 psi 1103 fps @ 6400 psi. 1145 fps @ 7400 psi. For an average of 1130 fps @ 7066 psi. |
