Telling a friend about my resurgence to 16ga and he pulls out this Hammered SxS he used to hunt with and wants me to tell him what and where it came from. It is called : King Nitro engraved on the side. Sweet as they all are. I will try and attached a pic. In the mean time, any ideas?

Upland, here's a little information:

"Both 'King Nitro' and 'Central Arms Co' are trademarks of the Shapleigh Hardware Co, which was a major catalog retailer from the late 1800's well into the 20th century. The shotguns marketed under that name were made for Shapleigh by different companies, notably Davenport Firearms, Crescent, Hopkins & Allen, and Stevens."

Some pics should tell us for sure. Good luck! Oh, and welcome!

Fin

Geez fella, I'd rather use my eyes to identify a gun. Using hammers is kinda rough on the finish ain't it?

You may want to make your friend aware that the gun most likely has 2 9/16" chambers. If he shoots it, he should use the proper, low pressure loads.. MDC
