These guns were unknown to me until a year or so ago. I've handled a SL 16ga. that was an absolute knock-out with a price to match but recently ran across a BLE 16ga fully engraved that caught my fancy. I think I'll pull the trigger on this one, it's not that much money in the big scheme of things and I "DO" need a back-up to my W & C Scott SL 16.

What say you?

He's not a top tier maker, but his quality is well known and very good.. Carder says he put his nam on Dickson made guns. I believe he was a Scottish maker.. MDC

Not much available in Nigel Brown's book. But according to Tate many Scottish BLs, including some Dicksons and Harkoms, were made in Birmingham.

That wouldn't bother me, since I storngly subscribe to the "Buy the gun, not the name" theory of shotgun purchasing.

If you like it and it fits your needs, go for it.

Pete

I second Pete's suggestion.

Grab it firmly with both hands.

There is no such thing as a bad gun that ever came out of Scotland.

good shooting

Harkom, a good Scottish gunmaker, made great guns. If you like it and it seems a good price to you, I can attest to the maker's quality. I had a few Harkom's run through my hands when I had Hill Rod and Gun and I dare say they were all spot on cracking little guns. Wot? (or rather "Aye, Laddie!)
