Forgive my ignorance... just what exactly is the difference between a Sterlingworth, and a "A Grade"? |

That looks like a very nice, sound gun I would consider restoring to new condition. |

Discussion on DoubleGunBBS states the chokes are Sk/IC suggesting brls cut down from 30". Weighs only 6 1/4 #. Would still make a delightful skeet, quail, and grouse gun-I still don't get the price? Maybe everyone is looking for a LC now? |

If The barrels are cut, the seller is wrong about the 4" choke cones.. I've noted over the years, that the early engraved A grades won't bring quite the money that the Gough engraved ones,, Personally I don't care for the late enraving on the A and B grades.. MDC |

Your gun reputation has spread. There is a Parker Trogan, 16Ga, with two
matching s/n barrels on Gunbroker, with a reserve $2900, bid now at $2200.
Item #71004556. Buy as is, no inspection period, no return. Looks very nice. Any thoughts?
Was at the Southern SXS at Sanford, NC this past weekend, asked about you, your cronies said beware, you might be lurking in the shadows.
Your picturetrails on LC Smith are awesome and appreciated. |

Thanks Larry and BTW: I was surfing the Sporting Collectibles site and ran across a 1899 Parker catalog which is reported to discuss the damascus used by Parker. Fortunately, Cornell Pubs has a reprint which I ordered, so I might get a bit more insight into Parker damascus.
Very interesting gun. #1 frame and restocked. Screws look good. Obviously no longer a 'collector' but if I was looking for ONE (and why in the world would that happen ) do almost everything 'shooter', that could be it.
I share PGG's concern about the no return, but if I had Dave M's money (now that his son gave up on every attending college and has been shoveling snow for spending money-still snowing up there buddy? ) I might take a chance.
Same guys have a like new LC which I posted. |
