I loaded up some 3/4 oz loads the other day and they broke targets just fine at the super sporting range. Super pleasant to shoot, and really, who's out to break records with 16 gauge game gun anyway. I don't think George Digweed is nervous about us.
I used 2.5" Cheddites (Federals work), SG16, CH209 and 15.5 Green Dot. Nice looking rounds.
Got a favorite 3/4 oz load? |

Not yet but I've been thinking of working one up with WW CF, American Select and Claybuster 7/8oz wads. Would probably still need a cheerio but that's not so difficult. |

For clays my favorite is 15.9 gr of International in a 2 1/2” Ched hull primed with a Ched 209 and 3/4 oz of 8’s in a DR16. 6200 psi and 1150 fps. I’ve shot it 1000’s of times in everything from a 131 year old hammer double to my newest NID (OK, it’s 81 years old) and they all love it |

Yep, I have been looking up old threads. I just figured there is probably some new data floating around.
That load I entered above was tested by the honorable fn16ga and it's on the spread sheets. (1177 fps @ 7400 psi) |

That sounds like a great load. I'll definitely add it to my binder.
I loaded up 100 2.5" Cheddites last night. I picked up an adjustable bar for my Sizemaster and had it set for just a few grains over 3/4 oz and around 15.4 gr. of Green Dot w/ SG16 & Ched 209 primer. The crimps were factory perfect right from the get-go.
533 rounds per bag of shot, low recoil and surprisingly good performance, I see no good reason not to go with 3/4 oz loads for messing around with light doubles at the range. |

It's great when it all fits in a 2 3/4" hull. Once I use up all my shorties I'll move back to 2 3/4" so I can keep my MEC 9000 employed. |

I used to load 5/8oz to shoot on piece protection so whoever my partner would be on a drawll to try and pickup. Worked rather well |

One item I forgot to mention. This load will cycle my 1100 as long as I run it wet. |

Currently running 17 gr Titewad, SG16, Ch209 3/4 oz chilled #9 in a Fed hull. 1345 fps on the chrono. BP publishes 10.5k psi using Cheddites. Breaks them pretty good.
Looking at using 572 with 3/4 oz, hoping to drop a 1275 fps 1 oz load, not sure how that will play out. |

I put a couple of 3/4 oz 572 loads through the Chrony. Was looking for a 1350-ish load. These are based on 1 oz loads.
#1 - Fed hull, Ch209, 22.7 gr, 3/4 oz chilled, 7 popcorn grains over the top: 1436 & 1416 fps
#2 - Fed hull, Ch209, 23.3 gr, 3/4 oz chilled, 7 popcorn grains on top: 1437 & 1412 fps
Wanted to pattern them as well but it was too windy for my setup. I guess I’ll be dropping a 1200 fps recipe to see if I can get around 1350. |

The International load with the DR16 has been my favorite for years, esp. in my old vintage doubles. I still have a bag and a half of DR16 wads. Load works great on grouse and woodcock also. 3/4 oz is also my goto 20 ga payload . |

These have been really nice loads, soft yet crisp and they break targets really well. I shot a bunch of them at Medford yesterday in a 5 3/4 lb. SxS and they were delightful and effective when the barrels were pointed right. |
