Met a gentleman from South Carolina, named Al Smith, who said he was
an Eley vendor or representative. We were at the Brass Kettle Restaurant in
Sanford, North Carolina, at the Southern SXS. He offered me a case of
21/2 inch, 16ga Eley shells for $65.00. Should have taken them there and then. Anyone know this fine gentleman, or know source for Eley 16ga in the
NC area, or a catalog source?

I believe it was Al from whom I bought a case of the excellent Eley Grand Prix loads on 'close out' last fall. The US website has been down since then
http://eleyshotshells.com
An online catalog is available from the UK distributor
http://www.kirklees-guns.co.uk/Eley%20Hawk/Eley%20Hunting.htm
BUT it looks like Eley loaded up their game shells significantly: the Grand Prix 15/16 oz. previously was listed at 1225 fps and is now 1380. The 1 oz. VIP was 1275 and is now 1425 Shocked
Eley never responded to several requests for pressure information.

Too bad B&P stopped making their 1 ounce lower velocity load.

Didn't see any 16 ga shells on B & P site. Prices are better than RST.
Any ideas?

The only B&P 16s are the F2 Classic which are great pheasant loads but real boomers

rev's link to the product selection page, just go over to the left side of the page and select 16, it will bring you to the F2.
The F2 Classic are a 1 1/16th oz load in a 2 5/8" case, 1280 fps. They don't give any pressure, but kind of suggest limiting use in old guns.
The price doesn't look bad but you have to remember that you are only getting an 8 box case of 200 shells compared to the standard 250. Still that is only $8 a box and they cover the shipping.

Tom Armbrust reports the 16g F2 Classic runs 10,500 psi and I thought the recoil was quite stiff. Great pheasant loads in the right gun though.

I use them in 5 and 6 for pheasant, they ARE a terrific, reliable load, I have a lot of confidence in them......

I bought some Fiocchis, as they were the lowest pressure commercial loads available, based on someone's data, but I can't recall where I bought them (Graf?), but believe they were fairly reasonable...... they are nice for shooting LOTS of targets....perform well, and are easy on the shoulder..... 1 oz "game and target" listed at 1165 fps.... I think the pressure is in the 7000-7500 range...... they reload pretty well, too.....
