Very Happy 16 gauge folks: I am on a cloud right now; I finished my assigned Army duties in Afghanistan! We start home soon, and I should be back home by the middle of June. What with the year here and training before that, I have been away from home for about 16 months, and there were 16 of us from the South Dakota National Guard who were deployed. So it was only appropriate that I should buy another 16 gauge gun to celebrate, and I did just that. I talked to Mr. Kirby Hoyt of Vintage Doubles in Washington (by internet) and am purchasing a Sauer 16 SXS built sometime early in the last century. I want to say Thank You to all of you on this site, as this has been a place I could look to and find all kinds of good folks talking about fun things; this site has helped to get me through and to stay relatively sane! I'll be joining the 16 Gauge Society when I get home because of this. I don't know if I'll have any Internet Access until arrival home, so all the best to everybody until then. GWW

You got yourself a fine gun there. Long barrels, intercepting sears. Perfect weight. I was looking at and speaking to Kirby about that very same gun a while ago. But, then, I was able to find a similar one close by.

Come home safe.

GWW

Thank you for your service.

No one else on this forum deserves a great gun and an enjoyable fall 07 more than you do.

Glad to see you're coming home. I came home a little over fourty years ago and the first gun I bought to resume hunting was also a 16 gauge. I hope you have many years to enjoy using your new gun. Thank you for all you,ve done.

oldhunter....I can only assume you are a Viet Nam veteran. Perchance nobody took the time to thank you for your service, I will do it now, and say welcome home, my friend.

Thank you for your service to our great country. I am a Vietnam disabled
veteran, some 40 years ago. Memories never fade, just get more dear.Hope your memories are as good.
Not familiar with your brand of 16ga, but, in any way, 16ga is a favorite. Love to reload. In SD, you have access to lots of great hunting, pheasant
for sure. Have been to SD several times, to Sturgis and surrounding area.
A particularily memorable spot is where I-90 crossed the Missouri River at
Champlain, SD. Can see for miles and miles and beyond.
Hope your return to USA and SD is quick and safe.

I'm probably going to frame GWW's post and hang it where I can see it. Godspeed, GWW, and welcome home. --for the 16ga. Society, Doug
