I know some where in all these posts is the answer but couldn't find. I want to buy some 2 1/2" low pressure ammo for my old fluesy. I have been to the polywad site but don't really want to buy 250 rnds. What would be perfect, is 1/2 case of reg vintage and 1/2 a case of vintage spreader loads. Or just a place to buy by the box...any brand...16 ga of course. Thanks for the help!

Have you looked at R.S.T. ? I know they will let you mix up a case. I don't think they have spreaders.

swt16: Cabelas used to sell Gamebore 2 1/2" 16g by the box, but I don't find them on the website now Confused

RST, B&P, and Polywad only sell by the case, and Polywad to my knowledge is the only maker of 'SpredR' loads.
WilliamLarkinMoore sells individual boxes of 7/8 oz 2 1/2" 16s made here in Phoenix, but I believe only in 8s, and they don't 'feel' like low pressure loads (yeah, I know, pressure ain't recoil Rolling Eyes

English 7s are about US 7 1/2, 6s are US 7s

I know the Cabelas's in Pa carries 16 ga Gamebore in 2 1/2" #6 and #7's. $10.99 a box up from $8.99 a box last fall.
RST has 2 1/2" but the only low pressure is their paper at $12.99 a box, and they only sell by the case.
If there is a Cabela's by you and they don't carry them have them transfer some from another store.

Thanks David and BTW: Gamebore uses a 'patented fibre shotcup' and the pattern work I did last fall showed a very even, but also very open pattern compared to 1 oz Federal Game Shok and 15/16 oz 1225 fps Eley Grand Prix.

Bass Pro here in Harrisburg, PA stocks Gamebore 12, 16 and 20 gauge loads (6's & 7's). $7.99 box.

When I contacted RST (contact was Alex Papp) several months ago (before their paper shells were on the market), I was given the following info for 16ga: 1oz- 6400psi, 7/8oz- 6300psi. It seems there has been some discrepancy with their pressure info from others who have contacted them. I've not seen pressures reported above 7600psi though. Also, I was surprised to learn that their 7/8oz 20ga load was 10,000psi.

Drew- I've had similar results with Gamebore 6's out of my tightly Shocked

choked 16ga Elsie.

I've shot the Gamebore on pheasants and was very disappointed compared to the RST shells. Many more cripples than with the RSTs.

Just my observations.

What kind of patterns were you getting with the RST's versus Gamebore's?
Gamebore lists their 16 ga 1oz load @ 1260fps. RST 1oz @1145fps. What size shot were you using? I prefer 6's(US) for most of the pheasant hunting I do. I haven't tried the Gamebore 6's(UK) on pheasant so I have no opinon as to their effectiveness.

I was hunting a high end commercial place that gave us the ammo. They were using the RSTs up until last year. The size was 6s. Worked well out of the Merkel.
Last year they went to the Gamebores in 6s which are closer to 7s or 7.5s. I was right on some of the birds and ended up with cripples. I switched to Rem Game Loads in 6s and had no more problems.

I never put them on a pattern board but I know they did not do the job well.

I believe Gamebore uses a fiber wad, and RST uses a plastic wad with shot cup.
