I picked up my J.P. Sauer from the gunsmith yesterday.

Last time, I had the stock bent to a "cast on", and had the chokes opened. This time, the cheek piece was removed, (it was on the wrong side of the stock anyway), the stock and foreend recheckered and refinished, and the addition of a leather covered recoil pad.

In May, of 2007, this old gal celebrated her 80th birthday. Her present was a facelift.

At 6 lbs. 7 oz. she's ready for her next 80 years.

I use Safari Outfitters in Millbrook, N.Y. I can't say enough nice things about them. Primarily, they are a upper spectrum boutique style gun store, but also have access to several excellent gun smiths all around the Southern New York, Connecticut area.

It looks great. I can't help but notice it looks a lot like my early Berettas. The duck/perdiz on the bottom looks like the older Silver Hawk engraving. No insult intended. Wink
Best,
Ron

The Sauer is a 1927 gun. The BerettasSilver Hawks are from the 50's, aren't they? Copying is the best form of flattery.

They must have thought it was super. The Beretta 16g I purchased from 1933 has barrels which I have been told were sold by Sauer. I guess I will have to start looking at the early 16ga by Sauer.
Best,
Ron

Now THAT is a bird gun. Well done. You need to show that to the guy trying to decide on a lightweight citori.

PGG: SWEET! My new Needham is only 1 year older. I believe your Sauer is a little stronger but I'd be interested in what loads you use through her.
