Hi All,

I know that this is just a basic 'ol Citori Feather, but it is my first 16ga and I am real happy with it. I've run two boxes of shells through it so far, and it handles like a young bride on her wedding night. Can't wait for pheasant season!

Enough of the blah blah, behold:

Myself, I much prefer a well maintained, knowledgable sweety that's been around the block a few times! Wink

Get yourself a nice Pachmayer Decelerator pad on there and you'll really enjoy shooting that gun. I do. Wink

I find my lightnings to be an ideal upland guns. I'm sure you will to. Your gun is very attractive as well.

Nice gun and nicer wood than mine Shinbone! What are the barrel lengths? You will love it in the field this coming fall!

Thanks for the compliments, everyone. I did get lucky on the wood. Barrel lengths are 28."

BTW, is there a Decelerator pad that will fit a 16ga citori without trimming, i.e. a drop-in replacement?

A case of 16ga ammo arrived yesterday. I hope to go through a few boxes this weekend on the sporting clays course. My girlfriend will be shooting the Winchester 101 20ga I picked up for her. Can't wait for Saturday morning.

Shinbone: See the thread here on "Citori Lightning Recoil Pad". I think anything you get will have to be fit and, if the gun fits you now, you will have to have the stock cut.

I had a Kick-eez pad put on my Feather -- mostly for the length of pull. Also had a buddy put on a Hi-Viz sight. Shoots like a dream time and time again. Very nice to carry over hill and dale too.

I have the identical gun I bought new before the '03 bird seasons, and have never had a bird gun that I shoot as well as this one. I hope you are as thoroughly pleased with yours as I am with mine. I also have to admit though that the wood on yours is nicer than on mine.

You said it "is just a basic 'ol Citori Feather". It strikes me that you may be taking a quality over/under for granted, and valuing it as much as one would appreciate hand-me-down underwear! It took me 36 years to find the upland gun I shoot best and can carry all day long without it feeling heavy. I hope that gun didn't come too easily to you, so that you can truly appreciate its beauty of function, and don't part with it too easily as well. Please don't take this comment as a personal attack, because it isn't. But I guess I'm getting old enough to sense that many in this world of ours have so much, that they they don't fully appreciate the abundance and quality of what they do have. Yes Sir, I will get off my soapbox now.

Congratulations on being a discerning shotgunner who knows a fine gauge and shotgun when he/she sees one. I must be a slow learner, for it took me the same long 34 years of hunting and shooting to discover what an outstanding gauge the 16 is for upland birds. But I came from a family with little to no hunting tradition or experience, and it was a long process of trial and error for me! But I am doing my best to catch up, as I now am the caretaker of three fine 16's. I am also trying to see to it that my son gets a headstart on me, and learns vicariously from some of the mistakes I have made. But having said that, I am reminded of what my grandmother always told me, that you cannot put an old head on young shoulders. But I guess I'm still going to try to.

Grousen - Thanks for your comments, and I don't take them personally.

To allay your concerns that I may not sufficiently appreciate my Citori Feather 16 ga, you will be pleased to learn that I also own a 12 ga Citori Feather - I bought the 16 ga Feather based on my satisfaction with the 12 ga Feather.

I am picking up the 16 ga Feather tonight from Aaron of The Country Gentleman #3, who is intalling a Kick-Eez (Aaron doesn't stock Pachmayer) pad as I write this. I am looking forward to testing out the new pad (and Aaron's shooting tips) this weekend on the Bull Run clays course.

Thanks to all who commented.
