Bigkev,

Sorry to come late in this thread, am I right in judging that this model is an XE? Would it be unpolite to ask how much you paid for this gun with two sets of barrels in different calibers?EJ

It is an DE grade with FE checkering. I paid 25, prices have gone up since then and the same gun will be closer to 29.

That DE - FE is a really neat gun and certainly is worth every penny invested.

Another option if you have a more limited budget is to look for a 16 g A grade Fox or even a Sterlingworth & have it redone to your specs to include barrel wedges, frame rebates, knock out wood, your personal dimensions, redone frame engraving (on a Sterly), extra engraving etc etc. If a top level craftsman does the gun you may have 6-7K in a decent amount of work not inc the price of the gun. Certainly less than 9-10K total. There was a 12 gauge ejector Fox made up as a pigeon gun with many features to include 2 sets of barrels (32" and 26") for sale on the Fox site for a steal at 5K. It didn't last long & is now deleted from the listing. Just to show what can be done.

These redone Foxes may not command a premium price if you want to resell, but even if you lose some so what? Not a huge amount of money in today's world.

Speaking of Bigkev’s beautiful new Fox;

Carol called last Friday to request a FFL and inform me my Fox DE 16 gauge ordered 6/12/06 will be delivered in two to three weeks. It will have a similar finish as Bigkev’s. Certainly looking forward to its arrival.

Dogfox,

good and helpful analysis on what can be done in the Fox second-hand market. A way of using the bigger gauges on atractive proyects. EJSXS

Can't that be done to any older classic? Upgrading, say, a field grade L.C. Smith, or a Parker V.H.?
