Wow, what a great time!
H.H. Hipshot and his two sons really enjoyed the shooting, conversation, kidding, food, and companionship.
Many thanks to our hosts for giving us the opportunity to shoot at the Dallas Gun Club. It is a very nice faciliity.
It looks like we all survived the heat, and we didn't have to call the paramedics, so I would call the shoot very successful.
Looking forward to next time.

Let me add my thanks to our hosts MCHunter and JimH for a great day at the Dallas Gun Club. What a great facility! And the burgers there at the grill were top shelf. We had 11 shooters and some new faces since the last shoot in May at Elm Fork. Let's keep the tradition going. I'll post pictures tomorrow.
Thanks,
Marc
Here are some pics of most of the group. Looks like AndyC got the rest. Where the heck is Hipshot?
XVI'er, Postoak, and Yentzen
JimH, Hipshot's son (the Doc), and AndyC
Hipshot's other son (I'm terrible with names), and our hosts MCHunter, and JimH.
AndyC takes aim on the elusive orange bird.
Yentzen and his prized 1940's vintage A-5 16.

Thanks to MCHunter and JimH for their hospitality at DGC
The heat & humidity wiped me out so much that I forgot to take pics until the last two stands, but here's what I have (I think the pics are clickable to get full-size):
The 16ga hobos heading for the first stand:
JimH pulling, XVI'er missing:
Yentzen missing with his A5 - for once:
Postoak and his A5 with dial-a-duck:
JimH learnin' us all sump'n 'bout shooting with his model 12:
txshootist on the final stand (I heard hooting & clapping while I was taking the pic, so I think he got the double):
Most of the group (Hipshot was MIA for a few - chasin' one of the waitresses or something):

This was typical Texas weather for mid-August. The heat index recorded at DFW airport was 108 degrees F! We all had a great time and the clays were definitely SPORTING.
We need more participation at the next event. Most of our membership is from the Lone Star State, so all you other brothers organize a shoot in other parts of the region. Hit doan cos much todo. Everboddy laks hit. Why, even our yankee bretheren is invited to cum. We even had a Okie and a Coona$$ from LA cum to this'un. |

As usual, Tiny is spot on. However, he neglected to say that he couldn't shoot due to increased workload with a daughter in college and no ammo. I actually traded him my 1 oz purple-hull Federal "pea" loads for his "Larry Brown" 7/8 oz "Puffed Rice" loads at an earlier shoot, so he had none to shoot.
I'm also sure that he would have had a "slippery time" with his UNCHECKERED Arrieta! |

Guys, I really had a great time and want to thank our host for such great hospitaltity. As usual I couldn't hit squat, but I had a heckuva time. The heat took its toll on me, but I managed to keep enough water in me to avoid any trouble.
My prized LC Smith and it's safety went TU on me but I'll be able to get that repaired in good form. Marc, thanks for the good conversation and your gracious invite to a world-class facility.
It was really great meeting all the guys from the Texas area and I hope we can do this again, soon. As of today, I'm feeling good and still in the hunt.
Regards,
Charles |
