Well, it would appear that my Feather breaking had nothing to do with the cocking rod.
In fact, it had NOTHING to do with the fact I was shooting the heck out of an alloy gun.
The STEEL monoblock cracked. Yup, I ran into the gunsmith that works for the Warranty Center I dropped it off at while shooting sporting clays today.
He told me he shipped it out to Browning as they couldn't fix it. He's waiting for it to come back.
I guess they are going to have to put a new set of barrels on it? Got me, that's why they get paid to fix it.
I think it's going to be a while longer.
So I guess I didn't need to purchase a steel Citori in 16ga (but it's always fun getting a new toy) as the Feather was doing fine.
Go figure. |

In all my years of shooting a Citori and seeing maybe a thousand others being shot, that is a first. I wonder if Browning has spare 16 gauge barrels or if they will just send a new gun. Either way, this one might take some time. I'd advise opting for the new gun and get the other one as well. I'd also bug them for upgraded wood too since you will probably out of a gun for a while. By the way, you've already posted that you shoot nothing but factory ammo. Make sure that claim does not change under any circumstances. |

Already bought the other Citori, shot it yesterday at sporting clays, dropped it off today to set it up exactly like the Feather. Mid bead added as well as a Pach Decel SC pad.
I spoke to Browning last week about spare barrels, having another set fit to the new steel receiver etc. No go for anything.
According to the Cust Serv, they don't stock spare barrels and don't sell spare barrels, however you can order a 2 barrel set with a new gun. I have a feeling it has something to do with the work being done in Japan and not here in the states.
I'm reaching out for Browning already today to find out the status if possible. Since I don't have any ref numbers etc it "ain't" easy.
I'll let ya know how I make out. |

Now there is something spooky. Talk about the gun and Browning and I get a phone call about it from Browning.
They located the gun without any issues with the serial number. 'Puters are great when they work.
It is in the shop being "worked" on.
Man basically said they will most likely a) replace the barrels or b) replace the whole gun with a new one. If they do replace the gun they will also replace the mid bead on the rib as well as the Pach Decel pad I had put on.
Sounds like everything will work out ok, just going to take a bit of time.
We'll see how it goes. |

Yup, TJC...
Your discussion with Browning pretty much mirrors my experience. A bit slow to get things back to you out of the shop, but more than willing to do whatever it takes to "make it right". In other words, it aint' rocket speed, but they will stand 100% behind their products - all the time! More than I can say for some companies I have dealt with!
I am OK with it...

OSL,
I think it will work out in the end. Good thing in one way is, I just had knee surgery today. So I can't do anything for a while anyway. That gives them extra time to get things right.
I also dropped the new (used) 16ga Citori off yesterday to have a mid bead put on along with a Pach Decel recoil pad. Figured I wouldn't be needing it for a couple of weeks anyway and they said it would be done in a week. Do it will be done to go to Maine at the end of the month.
Things all seem to be working out one way or the other. Now if I could just get the rest of the ammo I have coming I'd be all set.

Good luck with Browning. It seems to me that once the main office gets involved things tend to work out better.
Sorry to hear about your knee. |

WOW, what can one say to such wit.
None of the above, I had arthro on a torn miniscus and removal of some arthritis.
Just got back from the Doc, he took my crutch away. That's good. Told me to walk as much as I can and to start phys therapy. Starting tomorrow, 3X a week for 3 weeks.
This just means I can shoot trap on Sunday. |

Bust 'em up (the birds, I mean). I guy who loves buying shells as much as you do cannot be caged for long. Good god, leave you with too much time on your hands, we'd find you living in a wee spot surrounded by flats to the ceiling! |

MGF,
It's funny you say that. The wife went back to work today after taking me to the Dr this AM. She is worried I'll have too much time to be on the 'puter buying things.
I think she'd rather have me back to work. But not until the 23rd and only then if I decide I don't want another week or so. |

CSMC are you listening? Maybe an RBL O/U? BTW, I have 3 citori's and 1 superpose. The super and the 410 citori are my favorites in the safe! |

Went well, PT stinks. Guy had my calf hurting more than the knee.
I should be ready for Pocono in about 2 weeks, especially since we'll be getting a cart.
I'm gonna go up and shoot trap tomorrow. Not sure I'll get through 4 rounds with all that standing etc but I'm gonna give it a try. |
