Just got a catalog from Graf and Sons and noticed a listing for Cheddite 1 oz and 1 1/8 16 ga wads. Listing showed them as new and wondered if anyone had seen them.

Just received a 500 bag of each this past week and loaded up a box of test rounds. I have not shot them yet. Will run them through the screens this week end and check velocity. I am working on a 7/8 oz load with the 1 oz wad, low pressure type load.
The cases are Winchester super X Game load, red ribbed.

According to Grafs this wad is best used in the thin straight wall cases.

I had a few problems with them that you might have read about in the thread that Dave posted, but I tried a couple of loads with Rex powder and the 1 oz. wads last week and all went well. Great patterns with the wads still intact and in good shape after firing.

I liked them so much I ordered a case of them.

Bustingclays;

Yes, I got them at Grafs. Both sizes are the same length. The base in the 1 oz is slightly different than the 1 1/8 oz wad. In my 7/8 oz load test I am using a Circle fly 16 ga. 1/8" nitro card over the powder to compensate for the shot difference and to gain extra length for a good crimp.Craig at Circle Fly has been of great help and is very knowledgable with reduced loads and the use of cards & fillers.

They are not gulandi wads.They are cheddite wads. After running some loads over a chrony and pattern testing I bought 12,000 of them.Give them a try I think you will like them.

Lefty Dude, is all the shot contained inside the shot cup or is some spilling over the top?

Anyone know of any wads that would work in a Federal hull or Cheddite hull that can contain a full 1 oz. load without spilling over the top?

Thanks,

Larry

Shot cup is filled to the top, no spillage.
