Jeff-

Not so sure that the one second from the left would comply with the three shell limit here in PA! MD must have some mighty loose restrictions Wink .
What is the capacity of that thing? BTW- Nice collection

Cheers
Marcus

Marcus,

That is an early 12 ga Remington Model 11. It has a magazine extension made out of the mag tube off a Win Model 97. The capacity is 10 shells including one in the chamber. It was used by a markethunter in the upper midwest before the end of commercial market hunting.

It is not mine, I'm doing a restoration job on it. Test firing it was part of the fun. It's hard to imagine what 10 consecutive shots at clay targets as fast as you can pull the trigger is like. You have to do it once...by the 6th shell you keep thinking that must be the last one, but it just keeps going and going.....

The owner is interested in the markethinting era and owns some neat stuff, including an actual punt gun.

Regarding magazine limits, for the early goose season in my part of MD the daily bag limit is 5 and they lifted the magazine restriction, so this gun is legal this fall (withhout a plug in it) for the first time in about 75 years.

Jeff

ps: Yentzen, your guns are purtier and your photography may be better....but I've got shotguns AND some great wine in my cellar!

Send me some of your famous beef jerky and I'll let you know what wine to drink with it!!

Jeff

Will you or the owner (Markethunter aka Destry ?) be using the Remington for that part of the season? It's interesting to consider how many birds that gun must have killed Shocked !

All the best
Marcus

Marcus,

Wow, I did not know that you know the fabled "Destry of Ypsilanti".

I'm still trying to get the joint on the mag extension re-silver soldered. I may field test it on the opener, Sept 1. If Destry is down for the Vintagers I may put him over my goose rig with a half a box of shells stuffed in it also.

Then I understand that it has been agreed that another aquaintance will take it to northern Saskatchewan where the magazine capacity might be put to good use.

But the real test will be in Destry's sink box latere this year, shooting on the Canadian side of Lake St Claire.

This gun is going to get the cooks tour, that's for sure.

Jeff

I only know Destry through his opinionated and oft amusing posts on the Parker and Smith forums. It was just a guess as I have read numerous postings of yours on the Parker forum as well.

Hope you guys take some photos of that thing in action Very Happy

Yentzen, I need to steady myself whenever I see that lineup of yours!

I feel like that Nazi dude on Raiders of the Lost Ark as he's looking into the forbidden Grail.

Marcus,

Destry is a man who likes strong opinions, guns and women.

But a nicer guy you'll never meet, sort of a gently giant if you know what I mean.

Jeff

Man Im going to have to build a shrine to Jeff...

And I promised myself (and Her Highness) that Id stop when the safe was full. That leaves six spaces -- three for rifles and three for....

an A5 twenty....
an A5 Mag 12....

And if these 16's are what they are cracked up to be...and I just know they are....

Prolly an Ithaca M37 in a 16 ... my first turkey was taken with a "turkeyfied" 37 and my pop had a 12ga that is now in the possession of my elder brother... they both point like the finger of death...

Im afraid to go to the dark side of pretty side by sides, you know, crazy things would happen -- like selling guns to buy others...something Ive never done.

So Ill stick to my autos and pumps and the lone o/u

I can see it today! Yesterday my puter just stuttered and nearly locked up everytime I hit that page! Had ME in "Agony." Nice picture! Now we need to start a national A5 fest! (I like the thought of, grab a gun, grab a bottle of wine.)

I still smile when I see the original title of this thread, "AGONY."

Flawaterfowler, you do need at least one SxS. Something light, but it closes and locks like a mini bank vault.

Just one....
