Gentlemen:
I've heard (not seen yet) that 25# bags of lead at Olin in Alton are going for $54
For a different take on reloading (besides the value and fun) - I reload while I grade. The more frustration in the grades, the more shells that get reloaded |

You operate a road grader while reloading? That's multi-tasking at its finest. |

too funny onefunzr2
I wish that was the way it worked, I'd leave the road grader at the club and reload shells between rounds. A supersized 9000G .....
No, more like the more 'F' and 'D' grades on the exams and lab reports, the more shells that get relaoded. |

I reload 16g, rifle and pistol and am always scrounging for materials. This past weekend my wife was at a gargae sale and noticed they had sold firearms. She asked if they had any old reloading stuff and they replied they just wanted to get rid of it. They gave her 150 lbs of reloading lead, unprimed shells by the boxes, 5lbs of good redot, and numerous other stuff for ten bucks. Love that gal of mine, think i'll take her out to dinner.

150 lbs of shot, for 10 bucks. You should buy her some jewelry too.

Heck, at the current price of lead, MAKE her some jewelry--maybe a string of #2's with a .416 pendant? |

In a word, NO---philosophically for me it's not worth reloading; my time outdoors is so limited that I don't want to be a technician---I spend all week inside. On the weekends I want to be OUTSIDE, perfecting my shooting and hunting skills. I frankly HATE reloading, but find it a necessary evil if I want light 7/8 oz. loads at reasonable cost. If there were a cost effective alternative I assure you I would never touch another 600 Jr. again.... |
