Just received my Uggie Grade 1 16 yesterday. I bought it primarily as an affordable backup to my Lefever H. If I could sum it up in one word, it would be this: WOW! I was expecting a plain jane, straight grained, boring utility gun. Not!
This gun has beautiful polished barrels with swamped rib, bushed firing pins, beautiful smoky case coloring, engraved top lever and screws, crisp trigger pull, easily engaged safety with nice knob to engage, long tang straight grip, and best of all, dark tiger-striped walnut with checkered butt with skip-line checkering on the butt. It's beautiful! For a moment I was wondering if someone had slipped an AYA 4/53 into the case when he wasn't looking. I had asked if he had any with some figure in the wood, but I didn't expect this. I am totally blown away, and of course, it only weights about 6.4 lbs. Amazing gun for $1300. I bought a Boyt take down case on sale too.
Jeff at Lion Country was great to work with, and I would highly recommend this gun, although I have not shot it yet. If they would put some better pics on their web site, I bet they would sell a ton of them.
Anyone want to see some pics?
---
Per your request, here they are. Granted, the wood could use some grain filler, and the checkering is production line quality, but for the $...
OH! And I forgot to mention, it seems very well balanced and points effortlessly...

I am glad your purchase went so well. I just received a 16ga grade III, straight grip with 26" barrels. It was plain wood, just like they said it would be, but everything else - metal to wood fit, engraving, case color checkering- is well executed. My experience with LCS wasn't quite as smooth. They told me they would ship it at no extra charge, 2 day priority. It came standard ground and they charged me for it. No responses to my inquiries to make sure I wasn't mistaken.
With all that said, the gun shoots beautifully, is an exact match to the stock measurements of my Beretta 12 ga 26" silverhawk. It is regulated perfectly, shoots a slightly more open pattern than the IC/M advertised (I am pleased with that) and frankly, I have to try to be able to miss a clay with it.
I agree with you, WOW, it is one hell of a deal for a great gun. |

UncleDan and Chorizo:
I didn't do a word count on either of your post but I'm pretty certain neither was anywhere close to 1,000 words.
So where are the pics?! |

Really? You're not going to submit my post to Gray's Sporting Journal for its eloquent prose and effusive gushing? I'll do better next time.
I'll get pics posted by this weekend. |

Your going to love this gun! I bought mine new about 20 years ago and have never had an issue with it. I have used it on grouse, woodcock and pheasants. I have a silver receiver model with engraving, it might be a higher model then yours. Put the pictures up, I would like to see the wood.
Your right the pictures that Lion Supply has on the site could be better.
Enjoy. |

That's great to hear, thanks! I'm selling my Lefever because I can't afford to keep a $2k backup gun in the safe, so I hope the Uggie lives up to its billing. I'll take it out to the range tomorrow to find out. |

Greg,
I thought that post of a Uggie would draw your attention!
You should post some pics of yours.

I just figured it out! pics attached. While UncleDanFan's wood may need some filler, he sure got some nice figure. The pics on mine show more figure than you can really see. It shoots like a dream however! I took it dove hunting and couldn't miss. Everyone in the group kept moving in front of me and giving me hell. Limit came way too fast and had to sit and watch the others shoot. Nutcase, let's get together and I will show you the Uggie too!

Can't wait. Maybe I'll even get to touch it!
Chorizo, as of right now my schedule is pretty open for the next week. After that things are going to get busy. Give me a call when you have some time. |
