Hi,

I am new here so sorry if this has been already a topic and again sorry if this is a relatively dumb question. I have to admit, I have never come agross this possible concern before.

So, my dad gave me a 16 Ga SxS Krieghoff Drilling dated 1932 and a JP Sauer in the same configuration. How can I tell if they are chambered in 2 1/2 or 2 3/4?

If 2 1/2, where can I get good field grade shells for these? I want to take them to S. Dakota for upland game.

Thanks,

Cordell

No such thing as a dumb question, brother Cordell! RST makes the 2 1/2" shells as well as Kent. You can order online. Welcome to the brotherhood!

Best way is with a chamber guage. In leiu of that, a gunsmith can measure for you.My best guess is that pre-war chambers are usually short. I'm sure our Prussian gun experts will chime in here that have more expertise than I.

Congratulations on your guns. German guns are way cool, and you have two from top makers!

Thank you my friend! I was beginning to wonder if anyone was going to reply to my post? I am looking forward to using these little gems in the field.

Again, thanks for your kind reply.
