Well you know how you get if you shoot 16 ga and don't reload. You'll buy about anything in 7.5 or 8 for practice.

I was pleasantly surprised last week as I found a case of remington black hulls in 8s for $49.90. This was at Bass Pro in Missouri. One case was all they had at the time, but they thought a few more were coming in...

Got two cases of 7.5 of the same shell at local NWA Wal-Mart for $52.50 per case. They did not expect more in anytime soon, so better check now. At least I have enough for some practice sessions with the 16s.

OSL if you get up to Kansas City check out several of the Dick's Sporting Goods Stores. They are selling Remington Game Loads for $4.49 less 10% discount for case lots. Picked up two cases at one of their store in south Kansas City on Saturday.

Ol' Southern Lawyer,
I'm sure you've thought of this, but if you find the gun manager an amiable sort, leave your card and ask him to call you when he gets more flats of 16s in. I've done in it with positive results a couple times.

Check your state fishing and hunting regulation books to see if there are any "$10 off a $50 purchase" coupons from Dick's Sporting Goods. Currently, these coupons are in the Tennessee Fishing Regulations books for 2007. I get the Tennessee Fishing Regulations books at Wal-Mart sporting goods departments. I took a coupon to a local Dick's Sporting Goods store yesterday. They had 16 gauge RGL 7.5's. Using the the coupon and the 10% off a case, I was able to get 12 boxes @ less than $4.00/box including tax. I am near this store a lot and buy a case of 16 ga. shells each time. Then I go over to the Wal-Mart store next door and pick up two more fishing regulation books. Coupons are good until 12/31/2007.

If you are a waterfowl hunter (sorry, no 16 gauge), you can buy the Remington non-toxic Wingmaster HD waterfowl loads for $10-$15/box if you buy them two boxes at a time and use the Remington $15/box rebate (up to 10 boxes per household) plus the Dick's $10 discount coupon.

Hope you can find the $10 off coupons. It's kind of funny in Tennessee in 2007. The coupons are in the Fishing Regulations books but not in the Hunting Regulations books. I have used the Dick's Sporting Goods Coupons from Tennessee in Tennessee, Alabama and Illinois so far.

Just be aware that a lot of stores (even some stores in Tennessee) will tell you they no longer do the 10% off of a flat/case (10+ boxes) of shells. It seems to be an arbitrary decision and each store can be different.

The 2 stores near me here in NJ both stopped the 10% off flats. Crying or Very sad

Isn't owning a 16 ga something else. Here is a web site devoted to 16 ga issues. It is like a help desk for 16 ga ownership. Owning a 16 ga is like belonging to a special group. I was going to say cult but that might be a little too strong. Maybe we should stick with Society. Anyway back to shells. I stopped at a local gun shop last week and he had several cases of 16 ga Winchester 1 oz shells for $52/case. I didn't buy any at the time but I stopped by last night. He was down to 4 cases and I bought 2 of them. I think I'll go back Monday and buy whats left. It's unusual that he has any 16 ga ammo at all.
